Chapter 7 He's a Prick

  • As soon as Casper woke up, he stared deeply at the woman sitting on his waist, who had one hand grabbing his clothes at the chest and the other clenched into a fist.
  • He felt his head start to ache.
  • In a voice that was raspy with grogginess, he demanded, "Let go."
  • Upon hearing Casper speak, Rhea loosened her grip on his neck slightly, pouting like an angry little squirrel. "Let go of my neck first!"
  • As Casper released his hand, he noticed the bruise on her neck, and his eyes flickered.
  • He asked lowly, "Who allowed you to come in?"
  • Rhea suddenly felt guilty for no reason. "I thought you had fainted because you still weren't awake at this hour, so I came in to check on you."
  • After saying this, she felt even more remorseful. Before she had entered, Casper was peacefully sleeping without any problems. However, once she was inside, he had grown bruises on his beautiful face and blood at the corners of his mouth.
  • Hence, Rhea was trying to think of something to say to remedy the situation.
  • He could feel the excessive heat from her even through his clothes as she sat on his waist, and his expression eventually darkened. "How long do you plan on sitting on me?"
  • The noble ladies of Wingston once wondered to themselves what kind of person and situation it would take to provoke Casper, the Demon King, to show his true emotions. If Rhea were to participate in that discussion now, she would probably say, "Try punching him."
  • Suddenly, she realized that she was still sitting on Casper and quickly rolled off.
  • She felt like she hadn't done anything wrong, but also felt that she was in the wrong. What was going on? She entered his room, got on his bed, and hit him… Still, she would instinctively fight back. It was Casper who had choked her first, so she was just acting on reflex. And yet, no matter how she justified it in her mind, Rhea still felt like she was in the wrong.
  • At this thought, she apologized sincerely, "Casper, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have entered your room without permission."
  • After saying that, Rhea quickly ran out of Casper's room.
  • When she reached the downstairs, she let out a long sigh. Casper didn't love her to begin with, and she had hit him on the second day of their marriage. Now, she had no idea if they could even live peacefully together in the future.
  • ...
  • In the room, Casper wiped the blood from the corners of his mouth. His deep gaze resembled a small stone thrown into a lake, causing ripples to spread across the water.
  • While he rested, no one was allowed in his room. The people back at Frost Mansion knew this, and no one would dare to intrude. It was even less likely to happen here, as no one would stay overnight. Since he rose to power as an adult, he had never encountered such a situation again.
  • Now, however, he had hurt someone again. He clearly saw the marks on her neck and knew the amount of force he had used. And yet, she wasn't afraid of him. Instead, she apologized.
  • Just like that, his rare surge of emotions suppressed the irritation that was caused by his insomnia.
  • Meanwhile, Rhea, who had run outside, had no idea what Casper was thinking about. She went downstairs and reheated breakfast, and it was a while before he slowly came downstairs.
  • Rhea pretended to be calm, as if nothing had happened, and placed a sincere smile on her face. "Casper, come and have breakfast."
  • Casper glanced at her. It seemed that she didn't hold grudges at all. Every time he saw her, she would smile like a fool. His gaze fell on the bruises on her neck, and they felt like a sore sight to the eyes.
  • Rhea continued to smile and said, "Casper, Mr. Frost called and said he's coming over for dinner this weekend."
  • She thought of saying something to ease the atmosphere, hoping that Casper wouldn't be too angry after being hit.
  • However, Casper's expression turned cold instantly upon hearing her words. Was she threatening him with Roger?
  • He glanced at the breakfast on the table and said coldly, "I don't eat takeout. Today, you need to dig up and weed the entire yard."
  • With that, he turned and left without looking back.
  • As Rhea watched Casper walk away, her guilt immediately dissipated. It wasn't because she had to weed the yard; it was because she had woken up at the crack of dawn just to spend over ten dollars on his breakfast! She didn't even have the heart to eat it herself, but this man refused to eat it just like that, without any manners to speak of.
  • She wasn't angry about being choked. After all, she had intruded into his room first. However, wasting food and money was unacceptable! He really was a prick!
