Chapter 12 The Tiring Scent

  • Casper went slightly absentminded upon hearing Rhea's words.
  • It was the first time someone had expressed a desire to protect him and treat him well.
  • How funny.
  • But for some reason, he didn't find it amusing.
  • Realizing that he had wronged her, the coldness in his eyes gradually faded.
  • Just then, Casper caught a whiff of a subtle fragrance. It was a blend of honey locust and milk, and it was a scent that couldn't be described but one that brought comfort and weariness.
  • Was he actually... drowsy?
  • Was it possible that the scent had calmed his emotions the previous night?
  • Casper looked at Wendy and said, "You can go back now, Wendy."
  • Wendy hesitated for a moment, glanced at Rhea with concern, placed some cold medicine on the table, and then left.
  • Casper stepped out of the bathtub with a serious expression and ordered in an indifferent tone, "You, change your clothes and come to my room."
  • Rhea shivered in the cold water, her voice trembling. "Why should I go to your room? I'm not “you.” I have a name. My name is Rhea."
  • "Don't test my patience any longer."
  • Casper habitually spoke in an authoritative tone, disregarding whether Rhea agreed or not. After speaking, he turned and left, still wearing his wet clothes.
  • Once he left, Rhea pouted, looking like a pitiful bunny who had been wronged.
  • She had truly tried her best to adapt.
  • She quickly slapped her own face, straightened up, and muttered to herself, "Rhea, be strong. It's okay. You came here to repay a debt. Enduring slight hardships is acceptable."
  • She changed into dry clothes, dried her hair, and took the cold medicine that Wendy had left on the table.
  • What did Casper want her to do upstairs?
  • Was he going to continue making things difficult for her?
  • Rhea hesitated for a moment but still went upstairs.
  • If he wanted to make things difficult, then so be it because she wasn't afraid!
  • She knocked on Casper's door upstairs but didn't hear a response.
  • Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open. This time, she wasn't intruding. Casper had allowed her in.
  • As soon as she entered the room, she saw him sitting on the bed while leaning back with his eyes closed as if he was already asleep.
  • Rhea felt a little perplexed. He appeared sluggish and unruly when awake, but when asleep, he emitted a fierce aura.
  • Shouldn't he look more peaceful and calmer while sleeping?
  • Rhea was merely curious and didn't dwell on it too much.
  • The next moment, Casper opened his eyes, and they were filled with a stern gaze.
  • Rhea suddenly realized that the last time he had been deeply asleep, he somehow tried to attack her when she approached him.
  • Hence, she reacted quickly and hastily explained, "It's me. It's me! Don't do anything. I know how grumpy you are when you just wake up, but you let me in yourself!"
  • Casper suppressed the burning sensation boiling within him and gazed deeply into her eyes.
  • What was she saying?
  • Why would she call him grumpy?!
  • Casper seemed to be restraining himself as he demanded in a low and hoarse voice, "Come here."
  • Rhea took a cautious step back and asked, "What do you want from me?"
  • Casper caught a whiff of that familiar scent that made him drowsy again.
  • This time, his voice grew slightly colder. "I'm telling you one more time. Come here."
  • Rhea would only respond to kindness, not rudeness, so she playfully rolled her eyes and turned to leave.
  • This was the first time Casper encountered someone who constantly challenged him, and with his grandfather present, he couldn't even do anything to Rhea.
  • Casper's icy tone intensified. "We're married. Husband and wife should live together."
  • Rhea didn't stop in her tracks as she turned to look at him. Unable to resist herself, she retorted, "Don't try to deceive me, Mr. Frost. Married couples can sleep in separate rooms."
  • Casper, upon hearing the distant form of address toward him, felt a vein pulsating on his forehead. In a cold voice, he grunted, "You destroyed my orchids."
  • This time, Rhea halted in her steps.
  • She no longer possessed the same confidence as she uttered softly, "I will compensate you."
  • "When?"
  • "I... I need some time. I can write you an IOU."
  • Rhea truly couldn't maintain her confidence. After all, it was difficult to be tough when she owed him something.
  • Casper stood up, took out a pen and paper, and wrote something on it before handing it to Rhea.
  • She thought he had written an IOU, but when she took a look, it turned out to be an agreement.
  • The agreement stated that if she slept with him for one day, she wouldn't have to compensate for the orchids.
  • Rhea was completely baffled by his action.
