Chapter 8
- Adams abruptly stood up from his seat. "Where did you get this from?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the flier in his hand.
- Mike had a huge smile on his face, he was still bubbling with excitement. "On my way to work, I saw some people handing this fliers out and there was also a huge banner on display, I was going to look away but the name caught my attention, I couldn't even recognize her at first Adams, if it weren't for her name."
- "She's changed a lot Mike, she looks so different and...." He trailed.
- "Successful." Mike finished and Adams nodded in reply.
- "When is this event taking place? I can't wait to see her, I really need to see her."
- "It's in a week's time Adams and also, there's something else you should know about." Mike replied and that made Adams look at him.
- "What's it?" He asked.
- Mike fetched his phone from his pocket first. "After seeing this, I couldn't resist making a research about her and I also saw this...." He showed a picture to Adams.
- Adams eyes widen in shock as he slowly took the phone from Mike.
- "She didn't return to Seattle alone Adams, she returned with a little girl and that's her in the photo."
- Mike was already aware of Alicia being pregnant before she left and that's because Adams told him.
- "Is this...." He trailed, not being able to complete his sentence nor take his eyes off the little girl in the photo.
- "I think she is Adams, that little girl is definitely your daughter, just look at her, she's a mixture of you and Alicia, she looks just like the both of you."
- For the first time in forever, Adams was able to smile genuinely. "My daughter, this is my little girl." He whispered as a lone tear slipped down his cheeks.
- "A week is too much Mike, I can't wait that long, I need to see Alicia now, I really need to see her." He said impatiently. Seeing Diane's picture only made him even more eager to meet Alicia and get to see his daughter in person.
- "Calm down Adams, I can understand how you feel but—''
- "No Mike." Adams immediately cut him off. "You can't understand how I'm feeling right now or the things I so badly want to do at this moment."
- Mike sighed deeply. "Please hear me out Adams, we shouldn't rush things, that won't solve anything, the event is only in a week's time and before you know it, the d-day will finally come, please be patient until then because that's the only way you can see Alicia." Mike replied, hoping Adams will listen to him.
- "But I want to see her now, I have to see her!" Adams groaned in frustration, then he began pacing around his office.
- "I know what you want to do Adams and I assure you that if you just rush things this way you'll ruin everything, you were able to wait six years before we eventually found her, waiting a week won't kill you."
- After a few moment of silence, Adams reluctantly agreed to wait for the event in order to see Alicia.
- "I don't think I can concentrate on anything right now, I'll head home first." He gave Mike's phone back to him, grabbed his things and left the office.
- Mike shook his head, then he stared at Diane's photo once more and a smile brightened his face, just like her parents, the little girl is an epitome of beauty and he felt so proud merely staring at her photo alone.
- "I can't wait to meet you."

- One week later....
- The day for the event was finally here, Alicia was running around her room trying to get ready quickly since she didn't have much time left.
- Diane was also present, but she was sitting on her mother's bed.
- "Why can't I come along Mommy?" She questioned for the one hundredth time with a sad little pout.
- Alicia sighed, then she repeated the same answers she's been giving Diane each time she asks the same question. "I already told you honey, it's a place filled with only adults, I can't bring you along my love." She replied, standing in front of her dressing table and fixing her earrings.
- "And you don't have to worry, I'll only be gone for a little while, a really nice lady will be here with you while I'm gone." She added.
- Before Diane could reply, the door bell rang.
- "That should be here." Alicia said, she took one last look at herself in the mirror and she was more than satisfied with her appearance, she grabbed her purse and went to Diane.
- "Please honey, I won't be long." She pleaded.
- Diane thought about this for a while, she would have loved to protest even more but Alicia already made her understand how this event was so important and she wouldn't want to delay her.
- "Okay Mommy." She finally agreed after what felt like ages to Alicia.
- Alicia released a breath she didn't even know she was holding, then she hugged Diane affectionatly. "Thank you so much honey, now let's go to your baby sitter."
- She helped Diane off the bed and they both went downstairs, on their way, Diane complimented her looks and her compliment alone made Alicia feel like the most beautiful woman on earth.
- "Thank you baby." She said with a bright smile.
- When they met Diane's baby sitter, Alicia thanked her for coming, introduced her to Diane and gave her a briefing on what to do for Diane, when she was sure that the lady understood everything, she kissed her daughter goodbye and repeated her promise on not staying long before she left.
- On her way out, Alicia could only hope and pray that everything goes as planned and nothing bad happens on this night.
- When she got outside, she got into her car and drove off.
- Unknown to her, fate was going to bring her to someone she's always prayed to never ever see again.
