Chapter 7

  • SIX YEARS LATER....
  • Alicia stepped into her newly bought apartment with a huge smile on her lips, beside her was her beautiful daughter Diane who was five years old, on her left hand was her favorite doll, while she held her mother's hand with her right hand.
  • Alicia took off her sunglasses and inhaled deeply, she couldn't be more pleased with herself for getting this apartment, everything about her now screams of wealth, from her stylish outfit to her luxurious car.
  • Over the last few years, she's managed to make it to the top in her writing career, it wasn't easy, but she fulfilled her dream and is now a successful Author with her own publishing company and an insanely incredible fan base. At some point in the early years of her struggle in making it, she had wanted to give up, but her daughter Diane gave her the courage she needed because all she wants to be able to do is give her daughter the best life she deserves and make sure she lacks nothing at all.
  • She's returned to her country now because the promise she made to herself years ago has now been fulfilled and she wants to take her daughter to the best school in Seattle.
  • "Mommy." Diane called while giving her hand a little shake, and that brought Alicia back to reality.
  • "Yes baby." She answered, giving her her full attention.
  • "Is this where we'll be living now?" Diane asked.
  • "Yes baby, do you like it? And don't worry, you'll be starting a new school soon and you're going to make lots of new friends, I know you're still sad about us leaving London but there's nothing to worry about honey, just trust me, you'll love it here." She smiled.
  • Truly, Diane didn't want to leave London at all and it took a lot of talking and pleading from Alicia to get her to agree.
  • "I know Mommy, but I miss my old friends and I also miss Aunt May." She whined. Aunt May was Alicia's best friend back in London, she was literally the only person Alicia had that was more like a family and their meeting was a funny one, but that's a story for later.
  • Alicia hates to see her daughter sad, she went down on her knees and made Diane to face her.
  • "Please honey, we already talked about this, and you know how much I hate to see you sad." She said softly. "You don't have to worry about seeing your Aunt May again because she agreed to move in here with us, but there are somethings she needs to take care of in London first before coming here."
  • Hearing those ones made Diane's face brighten up. "Really Mommy!?" She squealed in excitement.
  • Alicia was about replying to her when her phone suddenly rang, interrupting the moment.
  • "One moment dear." She excused herself before hurriedly fetching her phone from her bag.
  • She saw it was her publisher calling and hurriedly took the call. "Hello Mr Daniel."
  • "Alicia, how are you and Diane, I do hope you're settling in just well."
  • "Yes Mr Daniel, everything's going well and we're fine thank you." She replied with a smile.
  • "Good to hear that, so errr...I'm calling to inform you about a social event that's coming up soon, but it's not going to be about the social even alone, I'm going to try to include an author's event too, it's a good way of marketing your books even more in Seattle since you just returned, now don't get me wrong here, your works are already making waves here and we've even sold out the whole copies of your latest book. I just feel this is also a good marketing strategy and you can get to meet a lot of fans and interact with people more, this should help get to more audience."
  • "Posters are already out there and I can tell you that so many people can't wait to finally meet their favorite author." Mr Daniel added with a soft chuckle.
  • Alicia slowly stood up. "Wow Mr Daniel, this is great news, I'm thrilled to hear this and I'll be more than pleased to get to meet all my fans and let people know how much I appreciate them loving my books."
  • "You're an amazing author Alicia and you deserve the best of the best."
  • "Thank you Mr Daniel, when is this event coming up?"
  • "Hmm...preparations are already going on, everything should be done soon and the event can take place in week." He informed her.
  • "Wow, that's great, but I have a little issue, I can't take Diane with me and I haven't gotten a baby sitter yet."
  • "That shouldn't be a problem, I've got just the right person for the job and I'll be sending her over at that time, so you shouldn't worry about that because she's a trustworthy woman and Diane is in good hands."
  • Alicia was finally able to heave a breath of relief. "Thank you so much Mr Daniel, I sincerely appreciate this." She replied. Mr Daniel said his goodbye to her before disconnecting the call.
  • "I'm hungry Mommy." Diane said seeing her Mother was done with her phone call.
  • Alicia couldn't resist laughing, she's yet to go shopping for everything they need, but she'll have to go do that now. "Alright baby, let's go get you something to eat."
  • She took Diane's hand and they both left the house.

  • A few days later....
  • Adams was in his office busy working on his laptop when Mike rushed in, he raised his head to stare at Mike.
  • "What's it this time Mike? Why did you just barge in like that?" He questioned with a glare.
  • "I'm sorry about that Adams, but I was just to excited to show you this and I can tell you that you're going to be so shocked when you see this." Mike replied breathlessly.
  • Adams shook his head, then he returned to what he was working on his laptop. "I'm not interested in anything you have to show me Mike, I'm really busy at the moment so please leave." He replied while typing on his laptop.
  • Mike literally rolled his eyes at him, no matter how long it's been, Adams still hasn't forgotten about Alicia nor given up on searching for her, he's so empty without her and has turned even more colder than before, all he does is bury himself in his work and sometimes get drunk just to numb his pain, but all that is about to change now.
  • He closed Adams laptop and before Adams could snap at him, he placed a flier on his laptop, at first Adams couldn't recognize who the person on the flier was and he had to take a second look and look even harder to recognize the person.
  • His eyes widen in shock when the realization hit him hard and with trembling hands he picked up the flier. He looked at Mike who was now smiling brightly and then back at the flier again, he still couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing.
  • "I...Is this real?" He stuttered, feeling so overwhelmed with so many emotions at a time.
  • "She's back Adams, she's back!!"
