• Ava was pacing the floor while Hunter, Atlas, and Rebecca sat with the man with the burn-scarred face and watched her. Hunter was resting on the sofa and his submissive wasn’t very submissive at the moment.
• “I can’t believe you idiots didn’t tell me you knew this guy. And you!” she scowled pointing at the man. You scared the shit out of me that day on the beach. And come to find out your Hunter’s uncle!”
• “I’m sorry little red. I didn’t mean to frighten you. I couldn’t let you know who I was. Hunter and Rebecca hid me out here after my sisters' husband came up missing. Damion was my best friend and if they knew I was his silent partner, they would have had me killed too.”
