Chapter 36
- I stood at the side of Celeste's bed, my heart pounding with both anxiety and relief. The room was dimly lit, casting eerie shadows on her pale face. It had been three days since the attack, and she had finally opened her eyes this morning. After seeing her sister Marina, Natasha and Josie, she asked to see me. My nerves were frayed as I prepared myself for what might be an uncomfortable conversation.
- "Serena," Celeste whispered hoarsely, her voice barely audible. "You were able to come?"
- "Of course," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. We had once been enemies, but I couldn't help feeling relieved that she was alive. I knew things wouldn't exactly be smooth between us, but I hoped we could find a way to move forward.
