Chapter 39 Payback
- FUKAYNA
- I feared that the vampire would truly pull Dragoș’s arm off his shoulder. My heart pumped hard. The adversary must have mistaken it for the effort I had just made. I calculated the distance between him and me, but I would be too late if I made a move. I hated hearing Dragoș groaning in pain. If I could be faster than this bloodsucker, I could save my mate’s life, if not only his arm. Instead, I gave our opponent a warning to throw him off even a little bit. After all, he did see how I killed his friend.
- The vamp’s eyes shifted, wavering for half a second. My warning gave Dragoș the opportunity to squirm away from his captor, and I took it as a chance to save him. I thought it was good. I thought he was fine. But the bastard broke Dragoș’s shoulder before he let him go with a sneer. Using his vampire speed, he rushed to save his filthy ass! As much as I wanted to attend to my mate who was mewling in agony, he signaled me to follow the vamp instead.
