Chapter 7
- Claire POV.
- When I started to walk away, Emil came up behind me and grabbed my hand. He grinned at me, but I could only muster up a smirk that was only halfway there since I wasn't in the mood to smile all the way.
- Everyone seemed to feel better after a few hours. They were giggling and grinning to themselves as they reminisced about the wonderful things Michael had accomplished and the happy times he had provided for us.
- Then, while I was looking around, I got a glimpse of a warrior approaching my father and speaking softly into his ear. He froze in place, and the expression on his face indicated that he was furious.
- He finally got up and took the competitor with him as he stormed away.
- I turned to Cain, who was also looking. "What's going on?" I asked him.
- He just kept looking at his dad and shaking his head. "I'll look into it. I'm not sure." He quickly got up and went in the same way as his dad.
- People started leaving the hall to go home after a few hours. Mom, Adel, and I started to clean up the mess, and Emil stayed to help. We were lucky that cleaning up didn't take long. Before I knew it, we were back at home.
- We had just come back to the house when we heard the front door fly open. We were putting things away in the kitchen when we heard it. When we peeked out of the kitchen, we saw our furious father marching into the home. They does not even look at us. Instead, he walked directly inside his office and slammed the door, which caused both of us to jump a little bit.
- Cain walked into the house right after that. He looked both angry and sad. Everyone ran out of the kitchen in order to get to him as quickly as possible, each of us wondering what on earth was going on.
- Mom was the first to talk. "What's going on? "What the heck is wrong with your dad?" She made a request.
- Cain looked into his mother's eyes. "There was Alpha Hunter there." He said it with clenched teeth.
- We all had big eyes, and we were all shocked.
- I turned my head back. "Ok, and? What did he say? "What is he doing?" I asked, getting restless. We were all interested.
- He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. "He came here to talk about the peace treaty and what he wants in exchange for the war ending." Now, he was blowing his nose and making a grunting sound in his chest.
- I knew that something wasn't right.
- "So, what does he want?" Mom was not sure.
- I could tell that he didn't want to tell us and was trying very hard to stay cool. Then he looked at me with tears in his eyes. "He wants you, Claire."
- My eyes got so big I couldn't believe it, and I couldn't stop shaking. I tried to say something, but nothing came out of my mouth.
- "What! Please tell me that's not true." Mom asked, her eyes filled with tears.
- I followed Emil's footsteps as he went ahead of me. 'There is no way in hell that he is going to get her,' muttered Emil.
- "No, Emil, that decision does not rest with you. "You'll have to step down and remember your place," Claire said in a harsh voice.
- Adel just started crying and didn't say anything else.
- So many things were going through my mind that I couldn't decide what to do or say.Why did Alpha Hunter want me? I could not go with him. I had been told that he would take advantage of me, hurt me, and then leave. No, this isn't possible. My dad and I would not let it happen.
- I got right back up and ran to my dad's office, not spending a second. Before I could reach for the door handle, Cain grabbed my arm. "Claire, I don't think that's a good plan right now." He said it in an angry way.
- I laughed at him, took my arm away from where he was holding it, and went into the office. As soon as I went into the room, I decided not to say anything since I had already made up my mind. I looked at what was in front of me as I stood there. My dad was seated in his chair with his head resting on his hands and his hands wrapped tightly around his hair. He looked quite uncomfortable.
- It was a mess in his office. Papers were all over the floor, and things were broken. He looked like he was in a lot of pain.
- I shook my head and cleared my throat to get his attention.
- "Dad, please tell me that this is a joke." I asked him in a cool way so as not to make him feel worse.
- He turned his head slowly to look at me. His eyes were as dark as holes in the ground. He was sending out angry waves. "No, that isn't funny. Claire."
- I furrowed my brows and felt my anger growing.
- "Why does Hunter even want me?" Even though I wasn't sure if I wanted to know the answer, I still asked.
- He closed both eyes. "He says that you're his ." He answered with tight teeth.
- I let out a gasp and backed up a few steps. No, I thought, that monster can't be my mate.
- I shook my head and said, "No, you can't do that. I won't believe that, and even if it's true, I won't go with him." I said firmly.
- Dad's teeth were grinding. "Neither you nor I like this situation, but Alpha Hunter has made it quite plain that he has his sights set on you. He said to me, "If you go with him, he will put an end to the war between the packs and sign a peace treaty between the packs." When he said this, he looked sad.
- "No, I won't do it, dad! I will not go with him!" I was so angry that it felt like an endless river.
- Dad pinched the bridge of his nose. "You need to figure out what's going on, Claire. Alpha Hunter has made it very clear that he will come and kill the pack if you don't go with him. If you don't leave anyone or anything behind, he will take you by force. He will always get what he wants." When he answered, he spoke up.
- "Then we fight, and we get other packs to fight with us. I don't want to go with him, and you can't force me to, dad." At this point, I almost begged him not to let me go with that man, because if I did, I would die.
