Chapter 7 She Was Blacklisted By Men
- Madeline's pupils widened in disbelief as she stared at him.
- She had been extremely discreet about this matter, even making phone calls in secluded corners where no one was around. How could he know?
- "I-I didn't. You don't talk nonsense."
- Madeline bit her lip, afraid that something would be exposed. She didn't have the mind to argue with him and turned to run upstairs.
- George grabbed her arm and effortlessly pulled her back.
- "Don't run. I know you need money. I have plenty of money here. How about this? You sleep with me for one night, and I'll give you 1500 for one night. What do you think?"
- She didn't expect him to be so straightforward.
- Her face turned pale in an instant, feeling humiliated and contemptuous.
- Even though she had sold herself yesterday and had been tossed around by that man all night, it was not as embarrassing as it was at this moment.
- She forcefully shook off George's hand.
- "I don't need money anymore. Don't come looking for me again."
- After saying that, she hurriedly ran toward the dormitory building.
- She could faintly hear the man's provocation from behind. "It's useless to run. I'll wait for you to come to me obediently."
- Madeline clenched the medicine bag in her hand and quickened her pace.
- Even after returning to the dormitory, her heart was still pounding, unable to calm down for a long time.
- There was someone in the dormitory today. Madeline placed her bag on the bed, then secretly clenched the medicine box and hid in the bathroom. She couldn't help but replay George's words in her mind, feeling uneasy.
- She didn't sell her eggs.
- But the news had leaked out.
- What on earth was going on?
- She thought about it for a long time but couldn't think of any reason. The only person who knew about this was Logan. Could it be him?
- Madeline recalled the man's cold and distant face and couldn't help but bite her lip.
- Was it because she took more money from him that he sold her privacy?
- She took out her phone, opened Logan's chat box, and sent a "Are you there" message. The next second, a red exclamation mark popped up on the screen.
- She had been blocked.
- Madeline stared at the screen for a full minute before digesting this fact.
- It seemed that the man didn't want anything to do with her. He probably thought she was deliberately clinging to him when she went to the hospital today, right?
- So he gave her double the money to end their one-night relationship.
- She pursed her lips and silently closed WhatsApp.
- "Knock!" Someone knocked on the door from outside. "Madeline, are you done? I need to use the bathroom. Hurry up."
- Madeline immediately came back to her senses. She quickly put away her phone, opened the medicine box in her hand, took out two pills, and swallowed them according to the instructions. Then, she drank some water, hid the medicine box, and opened the door.
- Her roommate Fanny was waiting outside and saw her still puzzled. She asked, "Huh. Didn't you go to work at the supermarket today?"
- Madeline would go out for part-time jobs during her holidays and when she had no classes. Her presence in the dormitory was rarely seen during the day.
- "I have something to do today, so I took a day off."
- She casually gave a reason, then slipped into the tent under the bed.
- There was only one month left before the internship. She was busy working on her final design project. Also, she took on a part-time job in engineering surveying under her supervisor to earn some internship experience and living expenses.
- Therefore, she couldn't relax and immersed herself in her studies.
- ...
- In the following week, Madeline was busy running between the dormitory and the teaching building every day.
- She intentionally avoided George and hadn't seen him for a whole week.
- The things she worried about didn't happen. Everything was proceeding as usual. Madeline's tense nerves relaxed secretly after being on edge for several days.
- Perhaps George had lost interest in her.
- That would be for the best.
- Her father's surgery was also completed, and he was now in the recovery period, needing to stay in the hospital for three months.
- The surgery fee was expensive, and the postoperative medical expenses were not cheap either. Madeline thought for a moment and gritted her teeth to transfer another 1500. She wanted her father to use some good medicine.
- She believed all her efforts were worthwhile as long as her father recovered.
- ...
- On the weekend night, Fanny mysteriously approached Madeline and asked, "Do you want to earn a lot of money?"
