Chapter 10 Hard-Earned Money

  • Madeline's head exploded with a "buzz" as she was caught off guard by his request, and her heart raced uncontrollably.
  • Thump, thump—
  • Each beat made her feel as if her heart threatened to leap out of her chest.
  • Logan's face drew closer. His brows were knitted, his features were sharp and clean, and when his sharp nose almost touched hers, she could smell the faint masculine scent he exuded, and it quickly integrated with her own breath.
  • Awkwardly, Madeline turned her head, and her voice was barely audible. "I can't have sex within a week."
  • That was what he advised her.
  • "It's been a week, so it's fine now."
  • "But..."
  • "I'm a doctor, I make the final call."
  • Before she could protest, Logan silenced her by biting her lip, his fingers gripping her head firmly, not allowing any room for refusal.
  • His warm breath on her nose felt like fire, flushing her entire face.
  • In a daze, Madeline found her thoughts jumbled. This was her second kiss, and it left her feeling unsure of whether it was good or bad.
  • Their first intercourse was in the car, followed by the second which they did behind the door.
  • Possibly due to experience, Logan seemed unrestrained tonight compared to the previous week. His endurance surprised her as he offered no respite between the two encounters.
  • Eventually, Madeline's legs weakened. Clutching his arms with her fingers, she silently mocked, He looks like a reserved man to outsiders but he must have a more complex personality than I imagined! He's always so innovative that he can leave me exhausted and sore, not to mention that we've never done it in bed.
  • As he prepared for the third time, she weakly requested, "Can we move to the bed this time?"
  • Logan glanced at her. Her hair was damp, and her breath was uneven. Coupled with her flushed cheeks and timid eyes, the sight of her tugged at his heartstrings.
  • His gaze softened as he conceded. "Alright. Lie on your stomach."
  • Upon his agreement, Madeline dragged her sore legs to the bed. However, she was quickly dragged to the edge of the bed by her ankles.
  • He stood above her with lowered eyes. Despite being in an ever-ready position, his eyes remained cold and indifferent.
  • The bright overhead light was harsh, so Madeline shielded her eyes awkwardly.
  • 7,500 wasn't easy money.
  • ...
  • The following morning, Madeline woke up early.
  • She found herself waking up to ceiling-to-floor windows and a simple chandelier. After taking a moment to recall the events of the previous night, she realized that she had once again sold herself to the same man.
  • Logan still slept on the other side with a thin blanket covering his waist. It revealed his well-defined upper body, strong shoulders, and narrow waist.
  • He had an impressive physique.
  • Feeling embarrassed, Madeline hurriedly dressed while he slept.
  • Her clothes were strewn around the room, so she gathered them while enduring the ache in her legs to put on her T-shirt and jeans.
  • She had changed before leaving the club last night.
  • Click.
  • The bedroom door opened, and Logan emerged in his pajamas, observing her as she tied her shoes.
  • He said nothing while fetching a glass of water from the kitchen. Upon returning, Madeline was done tying her laces.
  • "I... I should go now." Madeline hesitated at the door.
  • Logan responded with a hum. He took a sip of water, and his voice sounded distant and cold as usual, which was a stark contrast to his demeanor in bed the night before. It seemed as if he was a different person from last night.
  • "My stomach hurts, could you... prescribe me some medicine again?"
