Chapter 14 Solving the Problem With a Bowl of Water
- “That’s ridiculous! How dare you accuse us of blackmailing?! What is your company trying to pull by accusing us of blackmailing now?”
- “Are you guys trying to pour dirty water on us? Just watch me expose you guys and let the public know what kind of company you guys operate!”
- “Let’s go to look for reporters now.”
- Showing no signs of calming down, the angry crowd continued shouting.
- The middle-aged woman was so pissed, and it seemed like the acne on her face would explode any moment. At that moment, her annoyed face made it felt like everyone owed her money.
- Right then, Hugo gave Harvey an irritated look. Initially, this was just a minor issue that could be solved through compensation and also an opportunity to get Alice to resign willingly. However, he didn’t expect Harvey to come over to spoil things for him, so he snapped, “Shut up, Harvey. You’re in no position to speak.”
- “Exactly. You’re just a son-in-law who lives with the Browns. Who gave you the right to spout nonsense here?”
- “From the looks of it, you’re probably just here to make things worse by throwing the entire family into a mess. I can’t believe we spent so much money on you all these years for you to be so ungrateful. Why are you so vicious?”
- Naturally, Hunter and Harry wouldn’t be nice to Harvey because Alice would have resigned if it weren’t for him, and the position of the president would have landed on them.
- At the same time, Alice shook her head. Even though she knew that something wasn’t right with this issue, it was unsolvable, and Harvey’s action would cause a lot of negative influence on the company if it was exposed to the public.
- “Harvey, can you stop messing around and grow up for once? You can’t just solve everything by being louder or more forceful.”
- Alice really didn’t know how to explain what she was feeling. Why can’t you be more rational? Do you have to cause a huge ruckus to feel better?
- Right when she took a deep breath and wanted to say something, Harvey suddenly pulled her toward his back. Immediately, she was stunned. Staring at the figure in front of her, Alice couldn’t help but feel bad.
- “Didn’t you guys say that you wanted to expose us? Go on, then.”
- “W-What do you mean?”
- “I’m putting it right here that what happened to your face is not related to our company’s beauty product at all, so don’t think that you can milk even a single penny.”
- Harvey’s gaze was dark, and the middle-aged woman, who was standing right in front of him, suddenly looked guilty before she roared, “What are you talking about?! My face only became like this because I took your beauty products. If not, how would my face become like this for no reason?”
- “Of course, your face didn’t become like this for no reason because you did it on purpose.”
- Many exclaimed when they heard Harvey’s words because it was too vicious for a person to actually have the courage to do this to their own faces purposely.
- “Harvey, stop your nonsense! How could this lady possibly do that? You’re not making any sense.”
- Initially, Martin really thought that Harvey found some flaw in this. However, he couldn’t help but feel disappointed after hearing him because it was impossible. No one would ruin their faces willingly like this.
- Martin couldn’t stand Harvey trying to mess around any longer, so he snapped, “Harvey, don’t you think that you’re the one who’s not making any sense because you want to stir things up? Say anything more than this, and I’ll get the security guards to throw you out.”
- “You can try doing that.”
- Nevertheless, Harvey wasn’t threatened by Martin’s words at all. After giving Martin a cold look, he turned toward the middle-aged woman and warned, “I can ignore this issue if you guys choose to leave right now. But, if you guys choose to stay, I can’t promise what’s going to happen later on.”
- “What? Are you threatening to hit us?”
- The middle-aged woman suddenly looked anxious as she kept averting her gaze from Harvey’s. Then, she eyed those men standing beside him and barked, “Why are you guys still standing there? Are you guys just going to watch him bully a woman?! You little scum! I’m warning you to stop spouting nonsense now! If we don’t get our compensation today, we will expose this to the public and let everyone in Vanstead City know that the Ascent Group is nothing but a rip-off.”
- “Exactly! You guys better pay the exact amount of 1 million, or don’t expect us to leave today.”
- “That’s right. Pay up before we trash your entire company.”
- The men there started threatening them and acted as if it was a life or death struggle. Right then, Martin gave Alice a knowing look before he spoke up. “Alice, I think it’s best if we settle this now. Since this is your fault, you’d have to be responsible to compensate them.”
- “That’s right. You should pay for this because we aren’t related to this at all. Just compensate them and get them to leave so that our company’s reputation wouldn’t be tarnished,” Hugo and Bobby urged as well. Although a million wasn’t much to Alice, she still felt disgusted seeing her uncles treating her like this.
- “I’ll pay for everything, and I won’t use any of the company’s money for this.”
- Immediately, Harvey’s face darkened when he heard Alice’s sob. How dare they work together with strangers to bully her? Are they even her relatives?!
- “I’ve already said that none of you guys are leaving with the money.”
- When Hunter saw Harvey standing between them, he pursed his lips in disdain and sneered, “Harvey, do you really think that you can solve things by threatening others? I’m telling you that you’ll be responsible for all of the damages to our company’s reputation if we don’t compensate them today. Uncle Marty, why can’t you keep a lookout for him? He had been wasting so much space and resources back in your place previously, and now he’s embarrassing himself out here!”
- At this moment, Martin gave Harvey an awkward look. He knew that Harvey wanted to help Alice, but this was a really bad way to solve the issue at hand. Yet, Harvey’s voice rang out when he was about to speak.
- “If I can heal her face, of course we won’t have to compensate for anything.”
- “What? Can you heal me? That’s a joke, right? Since when can you treat illnesses?”
- “Have you gone insane from trying to show off? Well, I don’t want to get blamed by you for not giving you an opportunity, but you’ll be responsible for everything if you can’t cure her. By then, I don’t care if you have to sell your kidney or your blood, but you’ll have to compensate a million bucks to her.”
- Hugo looked obviously angered as he threw his hands. Why is this useless thing trying to stir up trouble here if it isn’t to destroy the Brown Family’s reputation?
- Alice was stunned as well. Although others might not know Harvey well, she thought that she was the one who understood him the most, so she also thought that he was causing trouble by claiming that he could cure her.
- “Harvey, you—”
- “I can cure her. Believe in me.”
- Harvey gave Alice a look before he turned around and ran toward the washroom. When he came back, he brought a bowl of water together with him, causing others to laugh when they saw him.
- “Are you seriously using this to heal her? Do you really think that anyone can be a miracle healer?”
- “Stop kidding around. This is my first time seeing anyone actually attempting to heal anyone with a bowl of water. Are you out of your mind, Harvey?”
- At this moment, even Alice was fed up with him.
- First, you threatened to start a fight. Then, you started spouting nonsense, claiming that you could heal her face. Now, you came back with a bowl of water. Are you trying to fool me? Are you here to cause more trouble for me?!
- “Harvey, move away!” Alice roared in anger as her body trembled slightly. It’s fine that Uncle Hugo and Uncle Bobby are trying to go against me, but are you seriously trying to do that as well, Harvey?
- However, Harvey ignored Alice’s angry look and walked over to the middle-aged woman. Staring at her fearless look, he suddenly poured the bowl of water on her. Immediately, the middle-aged woman screamed as she felt a hot, searing pain on her face, as if there were countless needles piercing her face before she shrieked in fear, “My face, my face! What have you done to my face?!”
