Chapter 5
- She could only raise her hand in greeting.
- The night before, she had tried with all her might to open her mouth and make some kind of sound.
- She had tried so hard for so many hours that she had fallen asleep on her knees in front of her bed.
- That's why it had seemed a little confusing to her, the position where she slept.
- In a bed covered with a blanket.
- Maybe he tucked her in?
- She didn't know exactly. The only thing she was sure of was that there was a hot plate with a steaming cup of coffee in front of her.
- That was more than enough for the girl with the messy hair and splotchy freckles to sit down.
- She began to eat, without feeling Esteban's gaze; he himself had gone outside, leaving her momentarily alone.
- After she finished every last bite, leaving the plate shiny, minutes later she cleaned up.
- She approached the door to the outside, still had that lingering dread that was in her blood. But she was already outside, I can step with pleasure on the dry leaves, and feel the cold breeze of the coming winter.
- Feeling alive, it did not bother her at all.
- It was, to awaken the soul, which had fallen slightly asleep a few days ago. The first thing she visualized, was Esteban next to the vegetable garden he was preparing for her.
- “He had a part of it, with the soil removed. So I'll save you that work, I'll give you the seeds, and I'll give you an instruction manual so you can learn. I'll give you I think the simplest vegetables. Although I know you like plants.
- Briana smiled kindly at him. She took the things, which I gave her. She also had some shovels in her hands, among other necessary tools for the soil.
- She knew that he wanted to help her. It had been many years since she had felt supported by someone. The only person who had always been there had been her grandmother.
- An older person, who often forgot even her own name. She knew she didn't do it on purpose, but sometimes she felt she needed another kind of support. A support that her boyfriend did not give her at all.
- Her face, flooded in a sea of sadness.
- Maybe it was the fact, that she was beginning to remember. Or maybe it was the imperious need, that her mind had, to want to forget.
- The one thing she was, more sure than anything else in this world and at that moment: she wanted to smile and talk again. She wanted to be able to say out loud how grateful she was to a stranger.
- Esteban, who had rescued her: in every way.
- Esteban, he left.
- She approached the earth with curiosity, caressed it with her fingertips, feeling the cold, wet touch.
- In the night, an intense dew was falling, watering the plants; a cold season was approaching, he would have to put together some kind of greenhouses for his plants.
- An hour later, she had even buried many seeds. She was very anxious, watering them with immense love.
- She brought her tools inside, and looked at herself in the mirror a bit terrified. Dirt and grime, even in places they shouldn't have been.
- Her nails were black, but only from dirt; her pretty dress, which Esteban had given her as a gift, now had large brown stains.
- She decided to go and take a bath, so she could wash the dirty dress.
- The nice thing about this place was that there was hot water; there was light, and other services.
- As if it were an ordinary house.
- The moment Brianna turned on the faucet, she instantly closed her eyes.
- Feeling attracted, in the warmth emanating goes her body, along with the hot water.
- After untangling her unruly hair. She felt a little better, she didn't know if it was because she was clean again, or because in that place somehow or other: she felt free.
- Something that she had not felt for a long time; however, she knew that she had to go back to her grandmother. Her grandmother would probably be worried, and she did not want to give her a bitter pill to swallow, a person of more than 70 years old.
- For that reason, he would enjoy his stay there as much as he could. But at some point, she would have to leave, or more with pain in her soul.
- As soon as she began to finish washing her dress, she noticed: quite a few dirty stains. Although the white color it had at the beginning, it would never be white again. She felt a little sad about the dress, she should have changed it, so as not to ruin it.
- Esteban, standing in front of her, couldn't help but worry about her feminine face, which showed signs of concern.
- He came even closer to her side, and took one of her small hands, that first contact shocked her.
- For some reason, unknown to her, she felt a slight electric tingle. She subtly pulled away.
- Although somewhat impressed, by what she had felt.
- “Are you all right?”
- She nodded, and immediately showed him her ruined dress.
- She couldn't help, even grimacing with genuine sadness. He gave a slight chuckle and she looked at him with a raised eyebrow. She didn't quite know the reason for his amused mirth.
- What she was sure of was that something was happening to this strange fellow.
- “The white things, usually, I put them in boiling water to remove the dirt. If you want I can teach you.”
- She nodded, following him through the long corridors. She could see that it was his left hand, he was wearing her ruined dress. Until they reached the kitchen area, he left the dress on the table. He took out a large aluminum pot, under her attentive and curious gaze.
- Briana didn't understand very well the purpose of that pot. She had always washed everything in the automatic washing machine, she didn't even know if she was interested in scrubbing any stain that was difficult to get out, because there were none. He had always studied, and had never done a job that required more effort, that's why he was always impeccable, with his modern clothes, his white sneakers immaculate.
- He had never worried about a dirty pair of sneakers, and that reminded him to look at his feet. Finding his sad white slippers now dark colored. He had passed, because he had asked the coma slippers that color point he had put him uma that was not a good idea in that place. But he had respected even so, his strange decision.
- But apparently, today had been one of the best ideas she had had at the time. Because now, not only did she have a ruined dress, but also slippers in the same condition. She couldn't help but make a muffin, As if she were a little girl dotted in she looked at her amused and spoke to her.
- “We'll clean them, don't worry.”
- Mariana let herself be carried away by the point an hour later, her white dress was already impeccable and hanging outside. Her slippers were in the same condition, spotless and immaculate.
- As she walked through the farm, she couldn't help but notice that there were sheep. He approached with cupped curiosity and began to pet one that was a little lamb. The lamb sniffed her left hand, and she tried to laugh, although no sound came out, in that strange moment she felt happy.
- “Great, you found today's food.”
- And without a hint of regret: he killed her. Brianna froze completely frozen in place. She couldn't say anything, and even if she could, there would be no words that could come out of her mouth. She was completely perplexed by Esteban's behavior.
- He left without a hint of regret. She didn't know how it was done, or was it true, she had overreacted a bit by reacting that way.
- A few hours later, Niya was gently stirring the food with her fork. That meat, tender and juicy, did not appeal to her in the least at that moment. For some reason, he felt a bit confused. Esteban on the other hand, didn't quite understand Briana's attitude.
- "Why won't she want to eat?"
