Chapter 56 I Promise
- Alex was happy as she left home. Despite the harsh memories of the orphanage where she grew up, she knew she owed a lot to that place. It was where she met her almost siblings, as she liked to call them, and that was better than nothing.
- She loved being the responsible adult respected by the children there, which was quite different from her past. She didn't think she needed to inform Andrew about her plans; he was already very busy, and he wasn't her father to know every step she took.
- Thinking about this disgusted her because Andy was making her days difficult, making her think of him as more than just a friend, lingering in her thoughts for far too long, and it wasn't a fraternal feeling. The part she least liked about all this was the pretense, for it only took a yes for her to pounce on him and commit several sins she dreamed of at night.
