Chapter 8 Could He Be Our Daddy
- Adeline was rendered speechless. “G-Granny?”
- Patricia nearly burst into laughter. Well done, Sylvie!
- Isaac lowered his head to look at Sylvie, taking in the pitiful expression on her face. He could not help but feel a pang of sympathy for her. “Get someone to send Ms. Aniston home!”
- Liam walked up to Adeline, gesturing for her to follow.
- Adeline's anger surged within her as she glared at Patricia. Did you see that, Patricia? This man is going to be my future husband. I won't lower myself to your level, you wretched woman.
- She turned around and stormed away.
- Sylvie wrapped her arms around Isaac's thigh. “Mr. Handsome, that lady is so ugly. I should introduce my mommy to you!” She then pointed at Patricia and proudly exclaimed, “She's my mommy, Patricia Aniston! She's beautiful and has fair skin!”
- Isaac replied, “We met once at the hospital when you fell ill.”
- “Oh? So, what do you think? Do you like Tricia?” Sylvie asked.
- Upon discovering that he would be the man Adeline would be marrying, Patricia held an even lower opinion of him.
- “Sylvie, are you done?” She quickly grabbed her daughter. Zip your little mouth.
- Patricia held her daughter and turned around. Before leaving, she coldly uttered, “Thank you for the coat, Mr. Arnold.”
- It was apparent that Patricia's words were more about trying to extricate herself from the situation rather than conveying genuine gratitude.
- “You don't have to return the coat to me, Ms. Aniston. I don't wear clothes that others have worn.” Isaac spoke with a half smile on his face. He kept looking at her but still couldn't remember where he had seen her before.
- Patricia felt that he was looking down on her, and her expression darkened slightly. She walked away briskly, holding her daughter. What an arrogant, tasteless man!
- Sylvie giggled as she could sense her mother's anger.
- “Tricia, don't you think Mr. Handsome has quite a personality? He's so handsome!” she exclaimed, displaying a hint of infatuation in her voice.
- Patricia could not help but feel a mixture of amusement and exasperation at her daughter's tendency to become captivated by attractive men. Who did she take after, though?
- Upon returning home, the two were greeted by the two boys at the door.
- One of the boys handed a pair of slippers to their sister while the other offered them to Patricia.
- Scott, who had a mature look that surpassed his peers, said, “Mommy, the landlord came just now and told us to pay the rent by next Monday. Otherwise, he'll want to rent the unit out to someone else. Also, he wants to increase the rent by five hundred.”
- Patricia froze for a moment before steadying herself. “All right, I got it. Go and play with your brother and sister.”
- As she calculated the upcoming expenses, her expression grew increasingly grim.
- The monthly rent was two thousand, which amounted to twelve thousand for half a year.
- The training classes for her two sons cost twenty thousand each, while Sylvie's piano lessons cost another twenty thousand, totaling sixty thousand.
- With such a significant financial burden, her current part-time job simply was not enough.
- Patricia thought she could return to her previous job as a dancer at Everbright.
- She used to be the dancing queen in the city and had relied on that income to raise her triplets.
- She had hoped to finally leave her old job behind, but it seemed that until she found another high-paying opportunity, she had no choice but to continue.
- Scott stood still and looked at her with a frown. “Mommy, do we still have money?”
- He was trying to test the waters to check if she was aware of the money they had deposited into her account.
- Patricia stroked his face and replied, “Don't worry, I'll be able to pay the rent by tomorrow. The landlord won't kick us out.”
- Scott was accustomed to being evicted by the landlord and walking the streets with his family, carrying their luggage.
- That was why both he and his younger brother hoped to grow up quickly so that they could share her mother's burden.
- Meanwhile, Sylvie grasped Stellan's hand and quietly guided him into a room. With the door closed, she revealed a name card and said, “Stellan, look. I met a handsome man who looks just like you and Scott. Could he be our daddy? I really want him to be our daddy!”
- Stellan was familiar with his sister's longing for a father figure. She had a tendency to assert that any man bearing a resemblance to them must be their father.
- He reached out and stroked her head. “Let me have a look.”
- Upon examining the name card and discovering that the person was the CEO of Arnold Corporation, Stellan shook his head. “Tricia wouldn't stand a chance with someone so intelligent.”
- They reckoned that their mother was too kind-hearted and not particularly intelligent. If she were to encounter such a formidable man, she would be taken advantage of.
- Sylvie pouted in response. “But I really, really want him to be our daddy. You and Scott are super smart, so we won't be scared even if he's super-duper clever, right? What if he's actually our daddy?”
- She tugged at Stellan's sleeve, shaking it eagerly, her hopeful gaze fixed on him.
- The two brothers had always doted on her, showering her with affection. Seeing her deep desire, Stellan responded with a subtle nod. “All right, let's think of a way.”
