Chapter 4 Return The Coat
- A frown marred Isaac's countenance.
- Adeline Aniston... Well, that's a rather common name.
- He slowly lifted his head. “Schedule a dinner date with her tonight on my behalf.”
- Phillip had fallen back into a coma after regaining consciousness for a brief time. Henceforth, it would likely be difficult for him to rouse once more.
- His dream was to have his grandson marry the eldest daughter of the Aniston family, so it went without saying that Isaac planned on fulfilling his grandfather's wish. That aside, Adeline might be the woman from six years ago, in which case she would be the key to his sexual gratification.
- “Understood, President Arnold.”
- In an ordinary residential house located on the isolated Snowflake Lane, Patricia took Sylvie's temperature.
- Once she ascertained that the latter's fever had subsided completely, utter relief suffused her.
- “All right, you're not running a fever anymore, Sylvie. You don't need to go to the hospital.”
- She stroked her daughter's face gently, her eyes brimming with love and affection.
- Back then, she had been set up by Adeline and Gwen, leading to her losing her grandfather's love. They had even sold her off to human traffickers.
- Fortunately, luck was on her side, and she survived.
- It seemed as though Zachary had knocked into her, but in reality, she had taken a tumble and hit his car.
- Taking responsibility for the accident, he had been taking care of her and the triplets for six whole years.
- Never would she be able to repay the debt of gratitude she owed him.
- Despite the many difficulties she experienced then, the fetuses in her womb remained firmly planted.
- Such tenacious desire to live moved her greatly.
- Having nothing left, she decided to keep the babies and ended up with triplets.
- The eldest and second eldest were handsome boys named Scott and Stellan, respectively.
- Meanwhile, the youngest was a girl named Sylvie.
- She was much smaller and lighter than her two brothers at birth, weighing only a little over three pounds. She was so petite that she resembled a scrawny monkey.
- It was beyond difficult to take care of her. Since young, she would only sleep when cradled. Otherwise, she would start wailing once she was placed down. Worse still, she was prone to getting sick.
- Incidents like the previous one that terrified Patricia so much that she had no time to put on her shoes had happened several times. Each time, it scared her witless.
- Sylvie initially had a bit of baby fat, but her cheeks had lost their chubbiness right then, and she appeared even thinner.
- “Since I've recovered, does that mean I don't need to take those bitter medicines anymore, Mommy?” She held a Barbie doll in her arms, her voice soft and meek.
- Smiling, Patricia reached out and caressed her daughter's curly blond hair.
- “Yeah. You're fully recovered now, Sylvie. Remember not to eat too many candies in the future. Otherwise, you'll fall sick again.”
- Her two sons had gone to kindergarten. With her daughter alone at home, she could not go out to attend any interviews at the moment.
- This time, the medical bill cost over twenty thousand, leaving little money on her card. She had to find a part-time job quickly to earn more money.
- In truth, there were still five hundred thousand on her card. She had no idea who transferred her the money, but she would never use it.
- She suspected that the money was from her grandfather.
- Knowing that she was to blame for the incident back then and humiliated him, she lacked the nerve to go home and see him, much less use his money.
- Patricia went to the balcony to take in the laundry. When she was hanging the clothes up in her wardrobe, she came across the expensive coat.
- She had sent it for dry cleaning a few days ago and planned to return it that day when she was free.
- At the hospital that day, she had found the man who offered the clothes familiar, but she simply could not remember who he was.
- It was only when she glimpsed a news report in a financial magazine later that she realized the man was the head of the top prominent family in Appleby, Isaac Arnold.
- Coincidentally, he was a carbon copy of her two sons in terms of looks.
- Patricia got hold of Isaac's assistant's phone number and made a call over.
- In no time, the other party answered the call.
- “May I know if this is Mr. Dorchester?”
- “Yes, this is him speaking. May I know who you are?” Liam replied.
- “I'm Patricia Aniston. President Arnold lent me a coat previously, and I'd like to return it to him. Is he free today?”
- Liam cast a glance at the man in the private room before sending Patricia the location of the restaurant.
- “You can come over. President Arnold is having dinner here.”
- He did not think much about it since there had never been any woman around Isaac. He reckoned that the phone call earlier was from the man's friend.
- After hanging up the phone, Patricia turned to Sylvie.
- “Go someplace with me, Sylvie. We'll have dinner there, okay?”
- Having stayed at home for several days, Sylvie had long since been bored out of her mind.
- She promptly jumped for joy. “Yay!”
- Her big eyes sparkled. She was a miniature version of Patricia, so cute that everyone could not help liking her.
- Her voice was also very much sweet. Patricia's heart melted every time she heard her joyous cheering.
- Patricia told the nanny, Josephine Zimmers, to pick the boys up from kindergarten before leaving the house with Sylvie.
- She went to Prive in a second-hand Toyota.
- When she led Sylvie into the restaurant, the latter was incredibly excited.
- “Wow, the food here seems delicious! Later, we have to order some for takeaway for Scott, Stellan, and Mrs. Zimmers.”
- Sylvie was fond of eating. Despite her skinny figure, she ate even more than her two brothers. Regretfully, her size remained the same.
- “Sure. Later, you can order the food while I'll go and return the coat.”
- Patricia chose a table by the window. After putting her bag down, she headed toward the private room a stone's throw away.
- Out of the blue, she saw a familiar figure. It was none other than Adeline.
- It had been six years since she had last seen Adeline, and the latter had changed tremendously.
- She had likely undergone plastic surgery, for she was much more beautiful then. At a single glance, she looked like an influencer.
- The hatred buried within Patricia instantly surged forward.
- She and her mother were the ones who ruined my entire life!
- Seeing that Adeline had gone into Room 101, Patricia followed behind her. Subsequently, she asked the person at the door, “Excuse me, are you Mr. Dorchester?”
- Earlier, she had texted Liam that she had arrived, to which the man said he would wait for her at the door.
- The instant Liam saw the woman in front of him, a flash of surprise flittered across his eyes.
- Her legs were long and slender. He found her indescribably stunning in a black windbreaker and black pencil pants.
- Her striking countenance, in addition to her shapely figure, made her a devastating beauty.
- “Yes, that's me. You're Ms. Aniston?”
- Patricia nodded slightly.
- Then, she asked, “Who's the woman who just went in a moment ago?”
- Liam chuckled. “She's President Arnold's fiancée.”
- As soon as Patricia heard that, her expression changed.
