Chapter 12 What Patricia Has In Her Hand

  • I hope Mr. Handsome takes good care of Tricia. He looks so much like Scott and Stellan. He could be our Daddy!
  • Stellan caressed the girl's head. “Just trust me.”
  • In such a situation, anyone with a heart would go.
  • He was also testing Isaac. Was the man worthy of becoming their father? I hope he has a kind heart.
  • Scott returned to the teacher after talking to Josephine.
  • Then, Stellan ran toward the latter with a bright smile on his face.
  • “Mrs. Zimmers, could you take a look outside our house later? If there's a car parked outside, that means you can take the day off. You'll only need to come and pick us up after school.”
  • Worried about Patricia, Josephine shook her head. “I'll have to check on Tricia. Scott says she has a fever.”
  • “It's okay, Mrs. Zimmers,” Stellan replied calmly. “Someone else will look after her, so don't worry. Didn't you say you hoped she'd have a boyfriend?”
  • Josephine was taken aback. “Tricia has a boyfriend now?”
  • That's great news! I shouldn't bother them, then. A girl needs her man the most when she's sick.
  • Elsewhere, Isaac was in his car going through his mail.
  • Suddenly, he received a text message: Hello, Mr. Handsome. This is Sylvie. Help me! ...
  • The man's brows furrowed. Sylvie?
  • He was lost for a moment—until he noticed the name “Mr. Handsome.” Then, an image of the adorable little girl surfaced in his mind.
  • “Turn around and take me to Snowflake Lane now. Hurry!” he ordered.
  • The driver made a turn and picked up speed.
  • While seated in front, Liam turned to him. “You have a meeting at half past nine, President Arnold. Do you want to cancel it?”
  • All Isaac could think of right now was to save Sylvie. She must have called him for help because she was in danger.
  • “Cancel it.”
  • “Yes, sir.”
  • Half an hour later, the luxurious car stopped in front of 150 Snowflake Lane.
  • Isaac hastily got down and strode toward the door, noting how old the building was. It also had a small courtyard.
  • Glancing at the door, he entered the password before walking right into the courtyard.
  • “Sylvie? Sylvie!”
  • The courtyard was extremely tidy and had no extravagant decorations, but every plant in it was in tip-top condition.
  • Isaac entered the building. The living room had a simple interior and was equipped with just a couch, a coffee table, and a small television.
  • There were also lots of toys, indicating that there were children occupying the house.
  • “Sylvie!” the man called out again.
  • Patricia's fever was so high that she felt groggy and couldn't help but cough a few times.
  • Hearing that, Isaac ran up the stairs, headed toward the source of the noise, and opened the door.
  • “Sylvie...”
  • Yet, what he saw was a woman lying in bed, and her cheeks had turned red from the heat.
  • There also seemed to be something small but shiny in her hand.
  • Still, he couldn't see it clearly as Patricia's hair was covering it.
  • For some reason, Isaac's heart began to race.
  • He couldn't help but reach for her hand, attempting to pry her fingers open...
