Chapter 7 Do Not Hit My Mommy
- She gradually regained her composure. “I-Is she that illegitimate child? She has grown up.”
- Sylvie, usually a lively child, thought Adeline was Patricia's friend, so she responded cheerfully, “Yeah, I'm five years old now. I have two brothers, and they're also five years old. We're triplets.”
- Patricia swiftly covered Sylvie's mouth, not wanting Adeline to hear any of that. However, Sylvie was an outspoken child who had a tendency to blurt out everything.
- “Triplets?”
- Adeline's jaw dropped in astonishment. “You're really something—no, I mean that old man is something. No wonder you dress so plainly. It must be quite challenging raising three children, huh?”
- She wore a smug expression on her face. So what if she's still alive? She's nothing more than an insignificant speck of dirt. And soon, I'll be marrying into the Arnold family. She'll never be on the same level as me!
- Patricia's expression changed. “What old man are you talking about?”
- Eager to see Patricia burst into tears, Adeline replied, “The man you once had a passionate night with six years ago. My mom and I arranged that for you. Did you enjoy it?”
- “What?” Patricia's face contorted in disbelief. She had never imagined that the man was also part of their scheme.
- Having observed the expressions on their faces, Sylvie came to a sudden realization that they were not friends after all.
- Sylvie pursed her little lips, her eyes shifting from side to side. Then, she gracefully slid down from the chair and reached out her slightly greasy hand to touch Adeline's white skirt. “Wow, your skirt is so beautiful!”
- Sylvie was pleased with her action. How dare you mock Tricia! It's your clothes that are plain, not hers. I'll mess up your skirt!
- Adeline shrieked, “What are you doing? Do you know how expensive the skirt is?”
- When she was about to lift her hand to hit Sylvie, Patricia stepped forward and gripped her wrist.
- “Patricia, this vile spawn is just as annoying as you are!” Adeline snapped.
- Patricia gave her a slap on the face. “Watch your mouth, Adeline Aniston. She's not the vile spawn. You are.”
- Adeline was stunned for a moment because she did not believe Patricia would dare to strike her. In a fit of madness, she wildly attempted to grab hold of Patricia's hair. However, Patricia swiftly evaded her, giving her a forceful shove. Adeline stumbled and fell, crashing into the waiter's tray, and the soup splashed all over her.
- Adeline was in complete disarray. As she turned around, her eyes were filled with sheer hatred. She charged toward Patricia, exclaiming, “To hell with you, Patricia!”
- Once again, Patricia swiftly dodged her attack, causing Adeline to fall on Liam, who staggered backward, narrowly avoiding a collision with Isaac.
- “Did I bump into you, President Arnold?” Liam asked anxiously, his voice filled with panic. He then raised his voice. “Who is this mad woman? Do you not know where you are? You almost bumped into President Arnold!”
- Upon hearing those words, Adeline lifted her disheveled head, and her eyes narrowed slightly. She quickly took a few steps back and then pointed at Patricia, who was a stone's throw away. “Ise, she bullied me.”
- Isaac looked over and noticed the woman was wearing a cream-colored sweater paired with blue skinny jeans today. It was a simple outfit. However, compared to her disheveled appearance at the hospital that day, she looked much more presentable today.
- Her eyes were remarkably large and intensely black, resembling glistening stars in the night sky.
- Isaac froze, feeling a sense of familiarity as he looked into Patricia's eyes. It was as if they had known each other for a very long time.
- Seeing him remain silent and that he was seemingly dazed, Adeline walked up to him. “Ise, you're my fiancé. You must help me teach her a lesson.”
- Isaac glanced at her indifferently. “Ms. Aniston, you seem to be getting into the role quite quickly.”
- Adeline started feeling quite flustered, fearing he might expose their fake relationship. If that happened, her attempt to show off in front of Patricia would be a complete failure.
- Observing the interaction between the handsome man who resembled her brothers and the wicked woman before her, Sylvie felt disappointed. A surge of theatrical spirit took over her as she ran over to Adeline's side. “Granny, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to dirty your skirt. Please don't hit me. Please don't hit my mommy, too, okay?”
