Chapter 9 It Seems That Your Body Does Not Work

  • It was then that Elvira looked up, her gaze meeting Colton's, the man's eyes were playful and just looking at her in such a diffident manner made Elvira feel uncomfortable.
  • Barton was engrossed in the game, looking at Elvira for distraction, and he finally beat Elvira, "Yay! I won!"
  • Elvira put down the console, "Don't get me wrong, your son dragged me in."
  • "Hmm." Colton was blithe, and Elvira pulled the dughnut over to her, gently covering her eyes, "There's still the baby, you're dressed."
  • With that said, Elvira tugged Densie three steps ahead and fled the area.
  • It's not right.
  • Out the door Elvira always felt something was wrong, didn't Barton say he had gone to a meeting? Why was he in the room?
  • Watching Elvira fall away, Colton's original smirking expression turned grim all of a sudden.
  • He picked up Barton with one hand, "You did that on purpose."
  • Barton bristled, "The books say that intimacy brings couples closer together, how come it doesn't work when it comes to you two?"
  • He thought hard, clenching his left fist and pounding it hard on the palm of his right hand, "I see, looks like you're out of shape, greasy uncle."
  • Seeing his own son despise him, the veins in Colton's forehead jumped.
  • Colton raised his hand and punched him in the head, "Barton, where did you read that nonsense?"
  • Barton replied, "Just, just on your phone."
  • "Looks like you've been getting less homework lately after all." With that said, Barton called his assistant and straight away Barton's spare time was full.
  • Barton wailed at the sight.
  • "No Dad!" Barton wakes up from 6.30am to play chess, equestrian, English and fencing, then in the afternoon it's piano, French, Olympic Maths, and in the evening, after dinner, it's financial fundamentals ......
  • The day was scheduled without a moment's respite.
  • In the meantime.
  • Elvira pinched her brow and had just finished the meeting when Hansel's call came through.
  • "Boss, guess what Bryan and his family have been up to lately after the Sea City bankruptcy?" He was being cryptic, and Elvira was a little disinterested.
  • "Don't sell me short, say it." Elvira closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair, her mind extraordinarily clear despite her sleepiness.
  • This chess game she was playing was still missing the most important move.
  • "Bryan is selling off other properties, trying to make up for the losses in Sea City." Hansel's side fiddled with the abacus and heard it snap.
  • "Normal operation." She wasn't surprised.
  • Hansel added, "Now is the best time for you to annex the Lu family, won't you do it?"
  • Elvira breathed a sigh of relief as she pulled out a cigarette and held it to her fingertips turning it back and forth, after a long moment she shook her head, "The time is not ripe yet, wait a little longer."
  • "Is the villa packed?" Elvira doesn't want to live here anymore.
  • "Almost, are you in a hurry to stay?" Hansel thought for a moment and added, "Did those guys treat you harshly? I'll teach them a lesson later."
  • Elvira shook her head, "Not really."
  • The fact that there was a ticking time bomb living next to the main one was a bit annoying to her.
  • Hanging up the phone, Elvira clicked on her email and opened one of the attachments with a picture of a boy.
  • The little boy was thin and pale, and looked timid and sullen; the child, the letter said, was her son.
  • Her memory is so good that she can immediately tell if it's him or not out of the kids she's seen, and Elvira has tried to get Hansel to hack the account, but in the end, all it comes up with is that the account is used by an old lady, and the trail breaks down.
  • Believe it or not, Elvira was always going to try, she missed her son too much.
  • The mood under Elvira's eyes was very somber, and after a long moment, she turned off the photo.
  • She had been looking for this child for two years in the huge Sea City, so why was there no news of this child until now?
  • How can there be no news? If dead ...... can also find clues ah ......
  • Elvira, bitter, curls up in her chair and slowly falls asleep.
  • Densie saw Mummy asleep and she brought the blanket and gently laid it over her.
  • The next morning Elvira was woken up by the doorbell, she had never been a fan of rushed noises, plus she was a bit of a wake up call, so she opened the door with a bit of anger in her movements!
