Chapter 6 Quarrel

  • Fortunately, the disguise was so impeccable that he remained oblivious to the fact that she was Ana.
  • Elvira breathed a sigh of relief, considering the chaos she would have created otherwise. Once everything was packed, she took Densie and headed to the Lin family's house. It had been six years since her last visit, and she wondered how the Lin family had evolved during her absence.
  • As they reached the entrance of the Lin house, Elvira held Densie's hand, ready to enter when she overheard an intense argument inside.
  • "Dion, are you out of your mind? Tianhong has been targeting us for so many years, why on earth are you still voting for them?"
  • "Two hundred million! Are you kidding me? Why don't you save that money for your son?" Gina's voice echoed through the room.
  • Meanwhile, Grace tried to reason, "Mom, calm down. If you don't vote for Tianhong this time, we don't know what Colton might do."
  • "Dad is even considering borrowing money to avert the disaster. Please, don't get so angry," she added.
  • Hearing the quarrel, Densie pretended not to understand and asked innocently, "Mommy, are they running out of money?"
  • Elvira replied, "Perhaps."
  • Deciding to intervene, Elvira pushed open the door, confronting a furious Dion and an equally agitated Gina. Grace, with teary eyes, seemed visibly distraught.
  • Upstairs, a young boy of three or four years old was riding an electric toy car, seemingly unaware of the tension below.
  • Feeling the need to bring a sense of normalcy, Elvira smiled and took Densie's hand, who politely greeted, "Hello, grandpa."
  • Dion got up, although his expression was far from good, he managed a forced smile and asked, "Who is this...?"
  • Elvira smiled warmly, "She's my daughter, Densie."
  • "Why didn't you inform me about your return?" Dion complained, rummaging through his pockets and handing over a card, "A small gift for my granddaughter, take it."
  • Densie declined, "No, we have enough money."
  • Dion responded arrogantly, "How much money could you possibly have? There's a million on the card, enough for you two ladies to live comfortably for a while." Elvira chuckled, saying nothing.
  • Pulling out a card from her small backpack, Densie asked, "Grandpa, your card looks like this one of mine."
  • Surprisingly, Gina took a glance at the card and immediately stood up, exclaiming, "This black card, only three exist in the world! How did you...?"
  • Grace, who had only heard about such a card, said in disbelief, "No way, it must be fake, right?"
  • "I'm not sure if it's real or not, but a bunch of foreigners delivered it to our doorstep. Mommy didn't want it, but they insisted, annoying." Densie put the black card away.
  • Dion then sarcastically stashed his card as well, creating an awkward atmosphere.
  • Elvira had a specific purpose for this visit. She firmly told her father, "Dad, let's go to the study; I need to talk to you."
  • Her tone was gentle yet authoritative, compelling even a seasoned middle-aged man like him to follow obediently. Together, they entered the study, with Densie accompanying them.
  • As they settled in, Elvira opened the conversation, "Dad, it's been six years, and you've aged quite a bit."
  • Dion forced a smile, saying, "It's been tough; forgive me for making you witness this."
  • "I'm here to take something back," Elvira stated firmly, tapping her fingertips on the table.
  • Dion felt somewhat embarrassed, replying, "That room of yours... where your sister resides, and all your belongings are stored in the warehouse."
  • Elvira shook her head and uttered slowly, "The Genting Group."
  • "Ah, you want to work there? Alright, I can arrange a position for you... perhaps as a general manager?" Dion still failed to grasp her true intention.
  • Elvira sighed, "No, Dad. I mean, I want to take over the Genting Group."
  • Dion's face changed, asking in disbelief, "What do you mean?"
  • "I don't want it to go to waste under your management, Dad. It was a business that Mom and Grandma built from scratch, and it's a shame to let Gina handle it. Hand it over to me, and maybe I can revive it."
  • By taking control of the Genting Group, she would finally cut ties with the family once and for all.
  • Fuming with anger, Dion retorted, "You dare not!"
