Chapter 2 He Isn't The Same

• " Is dad coming for us ? " , Chrissy asked . " Yeah he is coming " , l replied to her . " Sarah , we will come back ..... " , . " Hurry up , don't waste my time " , Just as I was talking to my mother , Mark my husband ruthlessly out of the blue arrived . " Good morning " , With a smile , l murmured but it instantly dropped from my face when I turned to look at him .
• He was angry and glared at me as if l had just done something wrong . I didn't do anything wrong , l only had a night at my mother's place but then here he was looking at me with anger blazing in his eyes . He shamelessly didn't even greet my mom but still I had nothing to do . " What is wrong , has something bad happened ? " , I asked with worry all over my face . " Don't be stupid , l have already told you that don't waste my time ". He roared out angrily and at that my mouth fall open in disbelief .
• " Am sorry we ..... " , . " We ain't going to come , is that the way you have to talk to mom " , Just as I began Jessica shockingly intervened in our conversation while glaring angrily at her dad and at that my heart instantly beat more faster . She had put me in hell , l knew it that once we be alone in the room , things won't be good for me . " Jessica stop it , your dad is always busy and stressed out looking for your school fees , so l think things didn't go well at work this time " , l uttered out with a thought that she will get me .
• With my words , Mark glared at me and knowing the results , l mouthed a sorry but then he just turned and began walking towards the car . " Am serious mom , he has to respect you, you also used to work but still you didn't talk like that " , Just as Mark was making his way to the car , shockingly Jessica blurted out loudly and at that made Mark to stop in mid motion .
• At that l felt like asking for the ground to open up and swallow me . I swear this girl was going to get me killed . As my daughter , l knew it that she was right . This wasn't his first time to disrespect me , he treated me like trash but Jessica's intervention in our conversation didn't help . She was only worsening things for me .
• " Wasted night " , Mark cursed out and after throwing up a deadly serious glare in my way , he opened up the car and entered Inside . " Jessica it's fine sweetie , calm down " , l mumbled in a low voice and after giving me a sad smile , we made our way to the car . Saying goodbye to their grandmother Sarah wasn't needed because she was already in the mirror , combing her hair .
• With us seated in the backseat , the car was filled up with total silence . Chrissy , Ivan and l were fine but Jessica and her dad had gloomy faces . I honestly didn't know what the hell had happened to Mark but with my daughter , she was right to get pissed off . Everything was understandable to her , l only gave up my job because we couldn't afford child care for both Chrissy and Ivan . I would have left them to stay at my mother's place but then she wasn't someone who wanted kids . She was old but to her , it seemed like l was her mother .
• At first l used to work with them but it was tiring . I used to work the whole day and come back home , organize Chrissy and Ivan , prepare Mark's stuff and then do the home chores . It was truthfully tiresome and l slept like a slave . " Stop the car , we have reached " , Jessica's voice soon enough brought me out of my trance .
• Sadly she was again talking to her dad like that . Mark with his jaw clenched in anger , stopped the car and as soon as he did , Jessica jumped out of the car . " Mum have a nice day " , She reached out and gave me a quick kiss on my cheek . " Have a nice .... " ,. " I have a meeting don't wait for me " , Just as l talking to Jessica , Mark interrupted .
• " Sure you do ? " , I asked but ignoring me , he walked out of the car then he kissed Ivan and Chrissy . He wanted to kiss Jessica but she glared at him angrily and stopped in mid motion . As a mother , l kissed all my children and after handing them their bags , they all walked inside the school gate .
• " Get another cab , the meeting is about to start " , As soon the kids disappeared from our view , he said with no love in his voice and without kissing me , he walked inside his car and drove off . With him gone ,I only shook my head in disbelief . Yes he wasn't the same guy l met at first , l wasn't surprised even when he didn't kiss me . He used to do it at first but now he didn't care .
• Ignoring the love kisses , we also now had sex whenever he wanted which was hardly ever and when we did have it , it was always over with in few minutes . This was the situation l passed through but l sadly had nothing to do . We have been together since l was 16 . I fall pregnant relatively fast with Jessica . Just like my mother , l also gave birth to her at 17 .
• I was honestly young but my mom didn't care after all , she also gave birth to me at that age . As sad as it was Mark was 22 years but still l had nothing to do . At that time he was rich and since my mom only wants money , she forced me to love him .
