Chapter 7

  • KAELYNN's POV
  • ❦❦❦
  • My entire body hurts, and I'm dizzy. I held my head up and then opened my eyes. Sir Darenn was sitting on the edge of the bed when I looked around the room. He's pouting.
  • When I touched my neck, everything that had happened that day flashed through my mind. Suddenly, I feel the fear returning to me. I drew the blanket and wrapped it around my entire body. Monsters! Those three are terrifying!
  • Sir Darenn looks puzzled when I look at him. What about Sir Darenn? Is he similar to them? Is he also a monster? Is the child in front of me a monster as well?
  • I gulped, and my entire body trembled in fear; they're vampires, not humans. They're bloodthirsty monsters who are terrified of the sun.
  • That's why the mansion is so dark, and they only leave at sunset.
  • Once again, I see the child slowly approaching me; he's debating whether or not to approach me, and he's about to cry, but he suddenly runs up to me, and I was surprised when he hugged me tightly.
  • He cried, and I just stared, dazed by everything that had happened. I could feel his fear, knowing he was concerned about me.
  • I hugged him back and cried again. Why is this place like this? The one I thought to be a better job turned out to be the most dangerous one.
  • How am I going to get out of here? Will I be able to get away? What about this kid? Will I bring him with me? If yes, then how! How are we going to get out of this hell!?
  • "Luno, are you otey?" I smiled at him and wiped our tears away. I was still not feeling well when the door suddenly opened, and the twins entered the room.
  • They were both taken aback when they saw me, but it faded quickly.
  • "Kaelynn, you're already awake? How are you doing?" Because of my fear, my body went numb. I despise it when my fear consumes me.
  • My body trembled, but Sir Darenn held my hand and looked me in the eyes.
  • He's telling me that nothing wrong will happen to me because he's with me, so I tighten my grip on him as well.
  • "You've been unconscious for three days," Danrious informed me, which surprised me.
  • "Good thing you recovered your strength already, Kaelynn," Daniel said, but I knew he was just acting in front of me and looked exactly like his twin. Not only the two of them but also Sir Daryl.
  • "Time to get down now," a voice from the door said, and it was Mila; I looked at her, and I think I knew why she still looked young and strong; she, too, is a vampire.
  • "Let's go, Luno?" I nodded at him and attempted to stand; Daniel offered to assist me, but I declined and forced myself to walk.
  • Now I'll do my best to stay here and plan a better escape; I also need to gain their trust to observe this place and everyone else here.
  • I looked at Sir Darenn, who was still holding my hand.
  • If it hadn't been for him, I would have given up long ago, or I might have gone insane due to what happened.
  • But he's here, clutching my hand tightly.
  • As if he's promising to protect me. That's why, Darenn, I promise you, we'll make it out alive.
  • ❦❦❦
  • We proceeded to the dining area, where I sat Sir Darenn in his original chair, away from his brothers. I ignore them all.
  • Even though I was still wearing my pajamas, I ignored them and went straight to the kitchen to wash my face and prepare sir Darenn's breakfast.
  • I've been unconscious for three days and still feel dizzy and weak, but I need to work, not for the money, so that we can get out of here.
  • I blink my eyes a few times because my head is spinning, and I try to hold the cup but lose my balance.
  • I was surprised when someone caught me, and it was Sir Daryl; he had a severe look on his face, and I'm not sure what that look meant.
  • "Rest for now. I'll have someone bring your meal to your room, and don't worry about Darenn and the twins will look after him until you've fully recovered your strength," he said as he led me to my room. Because the three siblings were just staring at us, I smiled at Sir Darenn.
  • We enter a room near Sir Darenn's, and it appears they have already moved my belongings here. This room is significantly larger than my previous room behind the stairs.
  • "Rest for the time being. I'll have Mila bring your meals here," he said, and I frowned; at first, I thought he'd be the one to help me, but he ended up sucking my blood as well. Why, Sir Daryl?
  • "Sorry, Kaelynn," he blurted out, turning his back on me.
  • "We can't live without mortals' blood," he said as he exited the room, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest. When he apologized, I knew his words were sincere.
  • Why am I holding my chest like this? Despite the fact that I know he's a vampire, I still admire him.
  • I lied down in this soft and luxurious bed, looked up at the ceiling, and remembered that night; I touched my neck, and it felt like Danrious' fangs were still sunk into it.
  • I heard a knock and looked at the door, and when it opened, Danrious walked in with a bored expression on his face.
  • Speaking of the devil.
  • "Eat so you can regain your strength." I shifted my gaze to the other side of the room, and it looked like he was irritated.
  • "Do you want this the hard way?" He asked, and I shook my head no, realizing that I didn't have the strength to fight them yet, so I'll just do whatever they said for the time being.
  • I forced myself to get up, but my brain was still spinning when he placed one hand on my elbow and the other on my back and helped me sit.
  • I looked at his face, which was inches from mine, and he also looked at me, and for some reason, I smiled.
  • "What are you grinning?" I shook my head. Despite his strong and arrogant appearance, he appears to be a bored cat due to his eyes.
  • "You still have the nerve to smile, huh?" He retorted, and I chuckled. Is he getting irritated again?
  • "Hahaha, what's wrong with smiling?" I said, and he just rolled his eyes at me, and I laughed again since I can totally imagine a cat rolling his eyes
  • Hahaha, he's so ugly, but I noticed this is the first time I wasn't scared of him. Among the four of them, he's the one I am most scared of.
  • "You know what, just stop thinking and eat so you can regain your strength and take care of Darenn; it's not our job to take care of you two, tsk," he said, and I nodded. If only this relaxed feeling with him could last every time he's near me, I'm sure my job here would be easier.
  • "Yes, master," I said as I took the meal, which consisted of toasted bread with butter and a glass of milk.
  • "Who made this?" When I asked him, he scratched his cheek.
  • "Mila did," he said, but I was perplexed. Why is the bread's other side overcooked if it was Mila?
  • "Doesn't Mila know how to cook?" I inquire, and it appears he has already lost patience with me as he removes the bread from my hands.
  • "If you don't want to eat, don't! I'm already serving you, and you're still behaving this way!? Tsk!" His reaction took me aback, and I believe I know who caused it.
  • I'm not sure, but I'm happy and can't stop smiling after eating his prepared meal.

  • I finally regained my strength two days later, so I felt like a princess within those five days.
  • It's good that it's summer and school is out, but Sir Daryl is still too preoccupied with their family business.
  • They agreed to let Darenn and I go out to their backyard, but we couldn't escape because bodyguards guarded the entire place.
  • So, if we want to flee, we won't be able to because there are too many guards. I need to come up with another escape strategy.
  • They never asked me to do the shopping so that plan would be impossible, and they would not let Darenn accompany me. A car will definitely be needed if we pass through the backyard, where a path leading to the city can be found.
  • What are our options? Especially now that we're surrounded by guards and have the twins with us.
  • "What's so enjoyable about being out in the sun?" Danrious questioned, attempting to conceal himself beneath the trees and coved with thick clothing.
  • "Can you not see Rious? The beauty of nature!" Daniel replied, and Danrious hugged him.
  • "Let us return inside. It's too hot here, and that sunblock you applied to me is too sticky," Danrious complained.
  • "Rious, don't say that. It was difficult for me to apply sunblock to every part of your body," Daniel explained. Their conversation was getting nastier, so Sir Darenn and I left them and walked to the beach.
  • We walk around barefoot. It's still 4:30 p.m., but the sun is about to set.
  • Sir Darenn and I are building sand castles, and he gets so excited every time we finish one. The twins joined us as well, and it appears that this is their first time building a sand castle, as they seem to be children who are pleased with their efforts, even if they aren't perfect.
  • Sir Darenn and I both laughed at their work. I'm unsure, but I don't hesitate to interact with them. Is it because of Sir Daryl's sincere apology? Or perhaps because of the twins' kindness in the past few days?
  • Wait a minute. The plan is for them to trust me, not the other way around! But what is going on with me? Why do I feel sorry for them? Is it because they can't live a normal life like the rest of us?
  • Why? Why am I feeling this way? It used to be just sir Darenn, but now I want all four of them to be happy, even for a little while.
  • What on earth am I thinking? Runo, they're vampires! Right! I only need to think about how to get myself and Sir Darenn out of here.
  • But why do I have this strong urge to help all four of them? These four siblings have taken over my mind, and I'm afraid they're driving me insane. I'm still not over their secret, and now I'm trying to solve another one.
  • "Kaelynn! What exactly are you thinking?" Daniel hugged me again and rubbed his cheek against mine. This pervert is too clingy.
  • "Nothing," I said, pushing his face away from me with my sand-covered hand.
  • "Aww, I've got sand on my face now. Please bath me later, okay?" I just rolled my eyes at him and walked away from him. I took a seat next to Darenn and Danrious.
  • "Unfair! Now you've chosen to sit next to Rious rather than me! Why? How did you two become so close?" Daniel said, and I looked at Danrious, but he turned away.
  • "Huh? I want to sit next to sir Darenn. Right, sir Darenn?" I hugged him and pinched his cheeks, but it seemed he had PMS again.
  • "Your hands are dirty, eww," he said, and he was correct, so I wiped the dirt off with my skirt and carried him to sit on my lap.
  • "There! You won't get any dirt on your shorts." I told Darenn, but he was too busy playing in the sand. The twins suddenly looked at each other and then at me with playful smiles.
  • "What? What's wrong with you two?" I asked them, and sir Daniel approached me.
  • "Me too, Kaelynn! We want to sit in your lap as well!" My face flushed as he talked. I take a handful of sand and toss it to him.
  • "Go roast in the sun!" I yelled at him, but he just laughed and returned to playing in the sand.
  • They both took a handful of sand and threw it at each other. They seemed to enjoy themselves, and when we returned to the mansion...
  • "What did you guys do? You're making it difficult for me to wash your clothes!" Mila exclaimed angrily to us.
