Chapter 11

  • KAELYNN's POV
  • ❦❦❦
  • We returned to the mansion and went straight to Sir Daryl's room; I was about to knock when the door suddenly opened, and the twins stepped out from the room, both looking exhausted.
  • "Kaelynn?" Daniel calls me, but I ignore him. Danrious and I looked at each other, and I looked away first. I don't have to show him my fear. I'll just treat him like an air here in the mansion.
  • "Hey," he called, holding my hand and preventing us from entering Sir Daryl's office. "What are you going to do?" He inquired earnestly, but I simply gave him a bored expression, as he always does. I drew my hand back and went inside with Sir Darenn.
  • "You—" he was about to hurt me when Sir Daryl interrupted him.
  • "Your job here is done, so you two get out now, and Kaelynn, what do you want?" Sir Daryl asked, and the twins left; I even heard Danrious throwing a tantrum outside; I'm sure I'll be in trouble later. But I won't think about it now; I'll face him later. I set Sir Darenn down and turned to face Sir Daryl.
  • "We want to do some stargazing tonight," I told Sir Daryl, and Sir Darenn tiptoed his way to his brother's table.
  • "Please?" Sir Daryl looked surprised when his brother said those words, which made him smile.
  • "So, Darenn, you know how to say please now, don't you? Okay, I'll accompany you later, but first, we'll eat dinner," He stated. I think my heart just skipped a beat and is now racing.
  • Is he coming with us? Why!? That would be very romantic.
  • "Are you okay, Kaelynn?" Sir Daryl asked, which surprised me, so I nodded and hurriedly carried Sir Darenn out of the room.
  • "Thank you, sir; we'll eat dinner now," I said, and he rose.
  • "I'll come with you," he replied. Gosh! Why does he have to come with us all the time? I'm already doing everything I can to avoid him; is he teasing me? Also, if Danrious ever sees me with his brother again, I'll surely be dead.
  • I don't know where to put myself in this mansion anymore. This place is like a prison with different rooms, and in those rooms, punishments are waiting for whoever enters.
  • Argh! I need to focus on my job! Stop thinking about romance, Kaelynn.
  • I took a deep breath, and we followed Sir Daryl to the dining hall, where the twins were already seated.
  • They both appeared tired, particularly Danrious, who also had a broken nose.
  • "What exactly are you looking at?" Danrious said, and I was stunned, so I looked away, not realizing I was staring at him.
  • "Come eat with us, Kaelynn," Daniel chirped, but I just smiled back.
  • "Thanks, but I'll just eat later," I said, and he nodded and smiled, knowing that if it weren't for him, his twin would not have stopped what he was doing to me earlier.
  • I'm glad I'm close to Daniel because Danrious is the most annoying person in this mansion.
  • I ignore him and concentrate on feeding Sir Darenn. After that, I went to the kitchen to prepare food for our dinner at the beach tonight, but Mila stopped me.
  • "You go eat. I'll take care of these," Mila said with a smile, and I thanked her and began eating on the mini table in the kitchen.
  • One of the maids with jet-black hair began slicing vegetables.
  • "Let's eat," I invited her. But, as always, they didn't say anything or pay attention to me, just a blank expression.
  • I felt rejected at that moment because this one was so snobbish. I looked at each of the maids here while I was eating. It's as if they don't get tired because every time I walk into the kitchen, they're cleaning; sometimes, they even clean the mansion, which happens quite frequently.
  • Despite doing so many household chores, they still look young and fresh, unlike me, who is out of breath after just one order.
  • "Mila," I said, and she turned to face me.
  • "Do you all happen to be vampires?" When I asked her that, she looked surprised, went quiet for a few seconds, and then nodded at me.
  • Okay? Why does it look like she is not speaking the truth? Mila was talking to me with a smile on her face, but these ladies looked like puppets. Like they're just getting ready to take some orders and clean the house.
  • I got scared of the thought that I might end up like them too. I had lost my appetite already and just put my plate on the sink.
  • I became frightened by the thought of becoming like them. I'd already lost my appetite and had thrown my plate in the sink.
  • "We'll go now, is everything set?" When I asked Mila, she handed me the basket.
  • "Okay, but until 8 pm only, Kaelynn. Sir Darenn still needs to sleep." I nodded and tapped her shoulders as she spoke.
  • "Thank you, Mila, you too, go eat," I smiled as I ran up to Sir Darenn's room.
  • When I opened the door, I saw Sir Daryl inside, who stood up and carried his brother when he saw me.
  • "Let's go," he said, and we walked to the beach. I spread the blanket on the sand to serve as our picnic mat, then placed the basket on top of it and sat down.
  • I don't know why I feel so happy now, but we looked like a family picnic under the moonlight. Sir Daryl and I are the parents, and Sir Darenn is our son! Sir Daryl and I are the parents, and Sir Darenn is our son! ! What on earth am I thinking? Sir Daryl laughed as I slapped my face a few times.
  • "Is a mosquito buzzing around your face? There are many of them around here," he said as I drew out my insect repellant. I did bring this with me for Sir Darenn.
  • "Wait, Sir, I'll put some on, Sir Darenn," I replied, and he smelled the lotion from my hand.
  • "What exactly is this? Why does it have such a strong scent?" He inquired while I was already applying some to Sir Darenn's skin.
  • "So the mosquitos don't go too close to Sir Darenn because of the strong smell," I said, and he nodded.
  • We're just looking up at the sky while Sir Darenn points to the stars; Sir Darenn seems so happy to see many stars.
  • "Is this what you call stargazing, right Luno?" Sir Darenn asked, and I giggled at his sweet way of speaking.
  • "Yeah, stargazing," I told him, and sir Daryl just messed his hair.
  • Sir Daryl also seemed to be enjoying what we were doing, so I'm overjoyed now, even if it's only stargazing, that I was able to make them happy as well.
  • After a few minutes, Sir Darenn fell asleep. I was about to carry sir Darenn inside, but sir Daryl stopped me.
  • "Let's remain for a while," he said, carrying Sir Darenn and laying him down on his thighs. He caresses Darenn's hair, and every time I look at him, I can see that he's happy and sad at the same time.
  • "Are you okay, Sir Daryl?" I asked him, and he simply nodded.
  • "I'm just jealous of Darenn." I was surprised by what he said as he glanced at the night sky.
  • "Unlike his mother, my mother and the twins' mother are all strict, but even though Auntie Rose lived only a short time, she still treated us as her own children," he explained. I had not expected him to open up to me, so I remained silent and listened to his every word.
  • "My Mother she's strict and always punishes me by imprisoning me whenever I make a mistake in my exams. Even if it's just one mistake, she's already mad at me," he sighed and looked at me.
  • "She wishes me to inherit all of Dad's properties and wealth," he continued as we shared the stars above.
  • "I did nothing but do whatever she wanted, and when I was ten years old, the mother of the twins arrived; the twins were already five years old. I recall my parents fighting all the time because my father was having an affair, and then, for some unknown reasons, Mom vanished," He made a statement that shocked me. I wanted to embrace him but didn't.
  • "Following that, the twins' mother behaved like a queen in this mansion. Auntie Michelle only brought various men here and had sex with them behind my father's back; she didn't even consider her sons." I kept my mouth shut because of what he said.
  • "The twins once caught her, and what's worse for the twins is that their mother no longer cares if she has sex in front of them. The twins told dad about what she'd been up to, and I'm not sure what happened after that; aunt Michelle vanished as well, and that's when the twins began to change," he said as he stroked his younger brother's head and stared at his face.
  • "And during those times, Darenn's mother arrived; aunt Rose was already pregnant when she showed up. She didn't want to remain here and disliked my father. She's the first mortal brought here by our father," he said, and I looked at sir Darenn. Does that mean sir Darenn is half-human and half-vampire?
  • "And we only spent three months with her, but within those three months, we felt the love of a mother from her; it was only a short time, but we were so happy during those days," he said, creasing my brow.
  • "What happened to her? Why are there only three months?" I asked him out of curiosity.
  • "She couldn't manage giving birth to Darenn; she only carried him for three months, and because she's a mortal with a monster inside her womb, that monster drained all of her strength. She did not survive," he said, and now I was nervous, I was on the verge of crying, and I looked at Sir Darenn; what Sir Darenn knows is that her mother just left, but in fact, he is the reason why she's gone now.
  • He was unable to see or touch her mother.
  • I can't take it anymore and let my tears flow down my cheeks; sir Daryl was surprised by my reaction and tapped me on the back. I cry until we return to the mansion and enter Sir Darenn's room.
  • "I apologize if I said those things to you; our lives are too dramatic, aren't they?" He smiled at me, and I embraced him while he was still carrying Sir Darenn.
  • I sobbed again, "sorry, Sir Daryl," I said, and he just caressed my back.
  • "You don't have to feel sorry; it's all in the past now, and we're fine," he said as he messed up my hair.
  • "Just don't tell the twins I told you about our past. They might think I like to gossip with others, haha," he said, settling sir Darenn into his bed and covering him with his blanket.
  • "Go to bed now because you have work tomorrow," he said, and I nodded and went straight to my room.
  • I didn't bother turning on the lights and went straight to bed, but someone spoke up.
  • "How was your date?" I turned around and saw Danrious with a sharp look on his face; the moonlight is the only source of light here now, and I can still see him because of it.
  • He has a dead expression on his face and is filled with rage; I had no clue they had experienced such heinous things when they were so young. Their mother gave them a hell of a life, which may explain why they despise the world, particularly women.
  • Now I understand your problem and have a better understanding of your past.
  • I sobbed once more. I can't take the pain anymore.
  • "Hey, I didn't do anything to you yet, and you're already crying," he asked, and I saw how he panicked, and I knew it because even though he always shows me his bad side, there's still some kindness in him.
  • "Hello, Ru—" I embraced him and cried and cried while doing so.
  • It's fine if you want to bully me, and it's okay if you want to hurt me. If that's the only way you can erase your past. That's fine by me. I'll help you in moving forward and change for the best.
  • "This is no longer funny, Runo! What's going on with you?" He said, and I let go of him, then smiled, holding his blushing face. Wait, maybe my eyes are still blurry from crying.
  • I grinned and shook my head at him.
  • "From now on, I'll help you change. I'll do everything if you want to complain or open up to me, I promise I'll listen," I told Danrious, and he looked surprised before turning away.
  • He shoved me off the bed and stood up.
  • "What on earth are you talking about? Tsk! I don't care anymore." He then shut the door with a loud bang.
  • I sat back in my bed and stared at the ceiling, taking a deep breath and thinking again.
  • Now that I know their history, I think it's too heavy for me; it feels like I have to carry their problem and help them solve them, but that's fine with me as long as I can help them and make them happy.
  • I went to sleep with my puffy eyes closed.
