Chapter 6

• KAELYNN's POV

• I called Sir Darenn, but he appears to be reconsidering leaving his room.
• "Come on, sir Darenn. We need to leave right away until no one is around." He doesn't want to leave, but he keeps looking out the window, so I decided to carry him and sneak our way to the backdoor, where the path to the sea is located.
• It was only 3 o'clock in the afternoon, so the sun was still high, and he ran off toward the woods as soon as he set foot on the grass after we left the mansion, so I immediately chased him.
• "Sir Darenn, don't go too far from here," I warned him. Honestly, I'm a little worried about what I'm doing right now because Mila told me that no matter what, don't let the sun touch their skin. I'm not sure why, but Sir Darenn appears fine. Besides, in case he has a skin disease, I applied sunblock to him, and he's also wearing a long-sleeve shirt.
• He runs happily on the grass and even rolls around on it, You can clearly see the happiness on his face, and I don't know why, but I'm already in tears here, tears of joy, because he looks like a bird in a birdcage who has finally been set free.
• "Look! Look! Luno! Green! Plowels and tlees, hahaha!" He said this to me as he pointed to the flowers and trees. I carried him, and we picked some flowers; it's all white roses here instead of all red roses in the front yard.
• "Come! Let's go to the beach; it's much nicer there." He nodded and hugged me even tighter.
• Oh ho, now I already have your trust! We're friends now! Yey!
• We can already see the sea from here, so I ran there while carrying Sir Darenn, and when we arrived, I removed our shoes and placed him on the sand.
• "Aaah, Luno! It's eating my feet!" I make fun of him. I carried him close to the water, where the waves could reach his tiny feet.
• "So there you have it. The sand will no longer eat your feet," I told him, but Darenn just stood there, his feet soaked in the waves.
• Because his skin tone is so light, I can clearly see his feet underwater. I decided to sit on the dry sand and just watch him from there.
• I was shocked to see him crying when he looked at me, so I rushed to his side.
• "Why? Is it painful? Where? Sir Darenn, please tell me!" With a worried tone, I asked. He gave me a tight hug after shaking his head to say no. My skirt is already wet from kneeling in front of Darenn, but that's okay because I know he's crying out of joy.
• I cup his cheeks. "Silence now, look at the sea; isn't it lovely?" He nodded and kissed me on the cheek.
• "Thank you, Luno," he said as he ran around the beach, inspecting his footprints.
• Oh, he kissed me. I'm about to melt right now. He's the cutest kid ever. Now that I've seen Sir Darenn so happy, I'm willing to accept whatever punishment they hand out later.
• We took a walk along the beach and collected shells. I used the hem of my skirt to hold our shells, and when we returned from the mansion, I suddenly dropped off the hem of my dress, causing the shells to scatter on the ground.
• "Explain yourself, Kaelynn," I gulped, taking a step back. I'm nervous because of their stares. I felt sir Darenn's hands on my skirt and hid behind me.
• I held his hand when the twins took him and dragged him away. They both shoot me lethal stares. I'm not sure whether it's because of the reflection of the sun setting or if their eyes are extremely red.
• "Didn't we warn you not to take Darenn outside?" Sir Daryl questioned. It appears that he has just returned home from work and is confused as to why Sir Darenn and I are not in the room.
• "Are you okay, Darenn? Is there anything that hurts?" Danrious approaches me with a furious face as sir Daniel inspects every inch of Sir Darenn's body.
• "You! You have the audacity to break our laws! Come here, and I'll teach you a lesson!" He grabbed my wrist and dragged me inside the mansion, but I refused to belittle myself and drew my hand back.
• "Sir, please wait while I explain. I have no intention of endangering Sir Darenn's life; he wants to go out! Can't you see how happy he is?" I look at each of the siblings and Mila, but she just looks away, so I look back at Sir Daryl, who is staring at me with no expression.
• "What do you expect to gain by breaking our rules?" Sir Daryl inquires, and I simply bow my head.
• But earlier, Sir Darenn was so happy, and now they're making him cry. Do they want this boy to grow up distrusting everyone, especially because he has never been able to leave the mansion and have fun? Will they imprison their brother here?
• I closed my fist in frustration and faced them, looking at each of them. I made my decision. Unlike his brothers, I intend to raise Sir Darenn to be a respectable and outstanding man.
• "I'll accept whatever punishment you give me as long as you agree to let Sir Darenn and me out of the mansion, even if it's only here in the backyard," I said. I'm also on the point of sobbing, but I'm doing my best not to.
• Because of these people, my bravery is fading. I had no idea the work here would be this hard. Danrious grabbed my hand again and dragged me inside the mansion.
• "Daryl, you heard her. She made her choice," he said, and Daniel walked with us with a disagreeing look.
• "Okay. Please wait for me in her room." Sir Daryl replied before locking me in my room. After a while, the twins arrived.
• "Kaelynn, I thought you were going to last longer. I'm still not ready to say goodbye," Sir Daniel said, then hugged me.
• Danrious also hugged me and pushed me down onto the bed; is this my punishment? I assumed they'd lock me up or refuse to feed me for a day or two. Don't tell me they're taking my body!?
• "Let's do it together, Rious," Daniel said, and their eyes shifted. I was taken aback as the hue of their eyes changed from a mild crimson to a gory red.
• "Just be quiet; this will not take long." Danrious lowered his head to my neck, and I was ready to yell when he covered my lips.
• I felt Daniel lick my leg, then he smirked and said, "It tastes like the ocean." I almost passed out as I saw his fangs pierce through my skin.
• I'm unable to move. I feel like a spell has been put on me, preventing me from protesting against them. In my thoughts, I want to scream and stop them, but my body refuses to move. They both appear to want to take all of my blood from me.
• "Have you started yet?" My gaze was drawn to whoever was on the other side of the door, and I noticed Sir Daryl approaching me.
• I wanted to ask for help, but I couldn't. Danrious took his hand away from my mouth.
• "Help," was the only thing I could say, but he just fixed his glasses and grasped my hand.
• "Don't worry, you won't end up like them," Sir Daryl assured. I'm unsure what he means, but I fear them now.
• He licked my wrist, then sank his fangs into it without warning. I winced at the agony but didn't have the strength to fight it. They're not humans; they're bloodthirsty vampires.
• A tear fell from my eye, and I gazed up, seeing the plain ceiling and closing my eyes.
• 'What have I gotten myself into? They're not normal, Kaelynn. How are you going to get away from them and this hellhole?' I just sobbed since it was the only thing I could do in this situation.
• I felt a hand wipe my tears, and when I opened my eyes, Danrious was staring at me with his usual bored and uninterested expression.
• He leaned in closer and kissed me; it was a short kiss, but I felt something peculiar about it as if it had a lot of meaning that I didn't understand yet. Pity? Love? No. That is not possible.
• "Your kiss tastes nice, but it seems like your blood tastes better," he murmured before sinking his fangs into my neck. I gasped in pain, but my body did nothing to resist. Is this the sensation they're having?
• Three creatures are sucking my blood right now, and all I can do is wail and look up at the ceiling.
• Is this where I'll die? Will I be able to see the orphanage children anymore? What about Red? Will I never see him again? Is it truly impossible for me to identify my biological parents? Is this how I'm going to die? No! This is not something I want! I don't want to die in their hands!
• I'm getting dizzy and feel like I'm almost out of blood. I opened my eyes again and looked at the monster beside me, Danrious; he was staring at me as he always does, but his eyes weren't red like his twin's. My mind was already racing when everything went black.
• But before I totally lost consciousness, I heard him say— "This isn't the end, Runo; I'll make it last a little longer before I turn you into one of those lifeless maids." I don't know what he means by that, but whatever that is, I'm sure it's not a good idea
• I closed my eyes and let the darkness swallow me; I couldn't take it any longer and was exhausted.
