Chapter 5 What A Coincidence
- As Eleanor spoke, she clenched her fist and fiercely struck the side of Chadwick's face.
- Chuckling, Chadwick deftly dodged the punch. In a swift countermove, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her right into his embrace with a hard yank.
- “Ahh! Let go of me!”
- Eleanor's face flushed with embarrassment. Just as she was going to struggle, she suddenly felt a wet mouth press against her smooth cheek. Following that, a rough hand slithered into her shirt like an eel and gave her a harsh squeeze.
- “How nice!”
- With a snicker and a satisfied smirk, Chadwick dropped his hold on Eleanor, who had already fallen into a daze.
- He had been confined in the underwater prison for a full three years. There was not even a single female creature there, much less women, and he was on the brink of developing a psychological disorder.
- Unexpectedly, he encountered such a top-notch beauty no sooner had he gotten out this time. On top of that, she was disheveled. If he didn't take advantage of her, it wouldn't be in his style as the formidable Dragon King.
- After all, dragons were said to be lascivious by nature.
- A moment later, Eleanor, who was in a daze, finally came to her senses.
- Her eyes turned red-rimmed, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. At the same time, she glared at the man in front of her, hissing through gritted teeth, “Chadwick! I swear I'm going to kill you!”
- Good heavens! My body had never been touched by a man before. Where exactly did this ruffian come from that he dared treat me such? How utterly outrageous!
- With a shrug of his shoulders, Chadwick flashed her a wicked grin. “You're always welcome to try and kill me. But let me make one thing clear. For every time you fail, I'll punish you once. Sounds fair to you, right?”
- Eleanor took a deep breath to suppress the resentment within her.
- She turned around in a huff, not wanting to see Chadwick's detestable face again. But to her surprise, he once again grasped her delicate hand.
- “What do you want now?”
- Her expression changed abruptly, and she couldn't help retorting angrily.
- His origins are shrouded in mystery, and to make matters worse, his martial arts skills are formidable. At the very least, I'm definitely not his match. Could it be that he intends to defile me here?
- That thought popped into Eleanor's mind, filling her with despair.
- Surprisingly, Chadwick pivoted and crouched down in front of her. Patting his shoulder, he said, “I don't have many virtues, but when I say I'll do something, I do it. Since I promised to get you ashore, I'll never go back on my word. Hurry up and get on. Aren't you in a rush?”
- “What is it you're doing?” Eleanor eyed him in surprise and asked incredulously, “Are you planning to swim back?”
- “If not? Am I supposed to fly back?” Chadwick countered with a look of disdain on his face, rolling his eyes.
- Eleanor's voice faltered, her face flushing a deep red. She gritted her teeth. In the end, she braced herself and climbed onto his back.
- “Hold on tight. Otherwise, if a wave knocks you over, I won't be responsible for fishing you out!”
- Chadwick's calm voice drifted into her ears.
- Eleanor frowned. But in the end, she extended her slender arms and wrapped them around his neck. The softness of her upper body plastered against his back without an inch in between.
- At the look of satisfaction on Chadwick's face, a wave of annoyance surged within Eleanor, and she thought to herself inwardly. I'll let you have this last bit of advantage, you scoundrel! Once we're ashore, you're done for!
- Naturally, Chadwick was unaware of her thoughts. He walked onto the deck, adjusted his posture, and plunged into the icy sea with a swift dive.
- As he moved his limbs, he propelled forward like an arrow released from its bow.
- Eleanor screwed her eyes shut, oblivious to how fast they were going. All she could feel was the relentless onslaught of the seawater. Left with no choice, she clung desperately to Chadwick, fearing that a moment's carelessness would cause her to be swept away by the turbulent waters.
- If there were a fishing boat in the sea at that moment, those on board would have undoubtedly witnessed that horrifying scene.
- A towering splash of water spurted from the depths of the sea as two blurred figures traveled beneath the surface at an incredible speed. Occasionally, they would breach the surface for a quick breath before plunging back into the depths, advancing at a terrifying pace.
- Five minutes later, the lights on the coast were already within sight. Chadwick surfaced from the water and turned to the woman behind him, asking, “Are you still okay?”
- Eleanor had choked on the seawater a few times. Still, she gritted her teeth and replied, “I'm fine. You can continue!”
- “Continue? We've already arrived,” Chadwick said with a soft chuckle, playfully patting her perky butt.
- “Huh?”
- Eleanor let out a soft gasp, but it was uncertain whether she was shocked that Chadwick took advantage of her or astonished by his speed.
- She opened her eyes and looked around. Sure enough, it was the coast from which she had been abducted just now.
- Right then, there was not a sound on shore, let alone the previous intense gunfire. There was also not a single person in sight on the coast. It was uncertain where the gang of villains and the police, who were trying to stop them, had gone.
- Chadwick carried Eleanor ashore and carefully set her down on the ground.
- Struggling to her feet, Eleanor wore an urgent expression as she said, “There's no time left. I must hurry over immediately.”
- “Where do you want to go?”
- Chadwick looked at her in puzzlement, uncertain why she had been in such a rush since they were on the ship. He wondered what could possibly be so urgent.
- Eleanor turned to look at him and stomped her foot heavily. She said, “The bunch of crooks pulled off such a stunt tonight likely as a diversion for another group of people, whose goal is to kidnap the daughter of the Castillo family in Strico, Kathleen Castillo!”
- “Kathleen Castillo?”
- At that, Eleanor was not only the one who panicked. Even Chadwick widened his eyes dramatically, his face taking on a look of utter shock.
- “Darn it! Could there really be such a coincidence?”
- With a look of utter disbelief, Chadwick quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of thoroughly soaked paper. He carefully unfolded it and took a glance at it.
- When he saw the name of his mission target, which read none other than “Kathleen Castillo,” he was wholly taken aback.
- “D*mn it! Didn't they say someone would be responsible for Kathleen's safety before I arrived? Why is it that someone has already made a move?”
- Chadwick plunged into sheer anxiety. The daughter of the Castillo family is crucial to whether I can be absolved of my crimes. Absolutely nothing could happen to her!
- Upon hearing that, Eleanor looked surprised and asked, “What did you just say? You're the person the higher-ups sent to protect Kathleen?”
- “Isn't that stating the obvious?”
- Chadwick's eyes widened as if he had thought of something. He then raised an eyebrow and said, “From what you're saying, you guys were those responsible for her safety before my arrival?”
- Eleanor was taken aback for a moment. Subsequently, she nodded and admitted, “Yes. The safety of Ms. Castillo has always been the municipal police station's responsibility.”
- Upon hearing that, Chadwick immediately slapped his forehead, his face filled with despair.
- Eleanor felt a touch embarrassed.
- But still, she argued, “You can't blame us for this. The municipal police station's primary duty is to ensure the safety of the public, combat crime, and maintain public order. Protecting Ms. Castillo was just an additional task. Plus, those guys hadn't made a move in a long time, so we let our guard down a bit. Moreover, all of this is merely my speculation at present. Perhaps they haven't made their move yet—”
- “Enough talk! Come with me!”
- Before Eleanor could finish explaining, Chadwick had already grabbed her hand and pulled her toward a car a near distance away.
- “What are you doing now?”
- Eleanor panicked. I still have to report to my superiors. Why is this guy always picking on me?
- Without turning to her, Chadwick said coldly, “I'm going to find Kathleen.”
- “Go ahead, then. Why are you dragging me along?” Eleanor pouted, reluctance written all over her face.
- “What a stupid question! I need someone to lead the way!” Chadwick snapped his head back and roared, pausing in his tracks.
