The subordinate reported, “Mr. Parks, Bethany Langdon said that she used barium to protect her flowers against bees in the garden.”
• Julian glanced at Abigail and said into the phone, “Oh, protect her flowers against bees? Isn’t she afraid of poisoning the plants?” Abigail looked away to avoid Julian’s gaze.
