Chapter 5 Jasmine's Struggle
- Jasmine was taken aback, and she followed the man's gaze, glancing down to realize that the buttons on her chest were undone.
- Her face turned red, and her cheeks flushed.
- She furrowed her brows, quickly raising a hand to fix the buttons.
- "I apologize for not paying attention. Please don't misunderstand, I had no intention of teasing you," she said earnestly, clenching her hands tightly.
- Michael's gaze froze, and he cleared his throat before slowly averting his eyes from Jasmine's body.
- He didn't want to admit that his heart had been moved when he saw Jasmine's face turn red, as if she had been scratched by a cat.
- The atmosphere in the office grew quiet.
- After a while, Michael spoke up and changed the subject, "Did you complain about me to Grandma?"
- "No," Jasmine replied matter-of-fact. In their three years of marriage, she had never complained to Grandma about their relationship.
- "Very well!" Michael responded coldly, then fell silent for a moment. "Have you taken your contraceptive medication yet?" he continued.
- Jasmine furrowed her brows, suddenly feeling a wave of sadness.
- "Not yet," she honestly shook her head. "But I will buy it and take it when I get home from work. You don't need to worry, even if I do become pregnant, I will quietly have an abortion and not bother you at all."
- Oh yes, she almost forgot. They had been intimate multiple times last night, so she might have forgotten to take her medication.
- Michael glared, feeling anger rise within him at the mention of quietly having an abortion.
- He should have been happy to see this woman suffer, but now, there was no trace of happiness. Instead, his heart felt a little confused.
- He didn't say another word and immediately left, slamming the door shut.
- Bang! The sound of the door hitting the wall echoed, causing Jasmine's heart to ache.
- She gathered herself, like a fish struggling to breathe, trying to take in as much air as possible.
- Not long after, there was a knock on the door.
- Jasmine clenched her hands, her eyes regained clarity after taking a deep breath. She no longer appeared weak.
- "Deputy Director, are you alright?" Ines Lin frowned. Dressed in neat work attire, he stood at the door politely.
- A smile curved at the corner of Jasmine's lips as she looked down, pretending to casually read a document. "Yes, I'm fine. What's the matter?"
- In front of Michael, she could be vulnerable, she could cry. But in front of her subordinates, she was the Deputy Director of Marketing Strategy at the Fulton Family Enterprise.
- Ines bit her lip, furrowing her brows as she entered the room. She scolded with a pouting expression, "Deputy Director Fulton, you have no idea how annoying it was when you weren't here!"
- "Hm?" Jasmine furrowed her brows, continuing to look down at the documents. However, no matter how hard she pretended, not a single word registered in her mind at that moment.
- "Before you arrived, Miss Jenny came with a group of people. She wanted to throw away all the things in your office, claiming that this office would soon be hers..." Ines said angrily. "After all..."
- Ines glanced at Jasmine discreetly, then continued, "After all, they saw Miss Jenny arrive in a car with the Director this morning. The two of them seemed quite familiar!"
- Upon hearing that, Ines felt even more sorry for Jasmine. It was clear that Jasmine was the Director's legal wife, yet the Director often brought unknown women to the company. Who knows what they did in his office?
- "Alright... I understand," Jasmine heard, but she simply turned the page of the document quietly.
- "Deputy Director Lopez, this is the frame that fell when Miss Jenny came with a group of people. I had someone try to fix it, but it's still slightly damaged."
- Ines sighed in resignation, taking the frame out from behind her and placing it on Jasmine's desk.
- At that moment, Jasmine had just set down her documents and looked at the frame.
- It was a photo of her with Jenny and Grandpa, and there was a clear crack running through the middle of the frame's glass.
- Jasmine's body stiffened, her hand holding the document froze, causing the paper to tear.
- Jenny's actions were outrageous... "Deputy Director Lopez, are you alright?" Ines called out with a hint of hesitation. She knew Jasmine would be angry, and even an outsider would be angry in this situation, let alone Jasmine.
- "I'm fine, you may leave," Jasmine smiled at her, trying her best to control her emotions. But she couldn't deny that her heart was greatly irritated.
- "Alright," Ines responded briefly.
- Once Ines had left, Jasmine felt a sense of relief. She let go of her pretenses and tiredly massaged her temples.
- In the past, when faced with her husband's infidelity, she could handle it with ease.
- However, this time, her opponent was none other than her own twin sister...
- Not only was Jenny outrageous, but her husband was even more so.
- Heading home from work was not an easy task. Jasmine picked up her document bag, left the office, and headed straight for the underground parking lot.
- Little did she expect to encounter the two people she least wanted to see.
- From a distance, she could see Jenny affectionately holding onto Michael's arm as they stepped out of the elevator.
- "Michael, my arm still hurts..." Jenny complained, resting her head on the man's shoulder.
- "Still hurting? I'll check it later..." Michael paused for a moment before speaking sweetly, "And at the same time, I'll give you a thorough examination. How about that? We can see if there are any other areas that are uncomfortable."
- "Michael, you're so mean!" Jenny wrinkled her nose, snuggling up to him.
- "Do you like it when I'm mean or not? Yesterday in the car, didn't you wish I was even meaner?" he whispered while tightly hugging Jenny's waist.
- Jasmine's hand, which was gripping the car door, involuntarily shook. She could only stand there, watching the two of them approach from a distance.
- Her heart and body ached, as if she were being torn apart by a giant meat-cutting machine, with blood and flesh mixing together.
- "Michael, isn't that Jasmine?" Jenny exclaimed in surprise, tugging at Michael's arm.
- Michael looked up and saw Jasmine standing there, expressionless, her black eyes calm. He had actually noticed her since they had gotten out of the elevator.
- Jasmine snapped out of her daze, looking away and lowering her head as she bent down to get into her car.
- "Jasmine... wait!" Jenny called out softly to her.
- Jasmine paused her movements, not getting into the car. With one hand on the door, she curved her lips into a smile and looked at Jenny. "What's the matter?"
- "Jasmine... can't you forgive your sister? Michael and I..." Jenny removed her hand from Michael's and approached guiltily, tears welling up in her eyes.
- Jasmine calmly looked at her twin sister. She finally realized that her Sister's acting skills were truly remarkable.
- "Sister, if you're asking whether I can forgive an unfaithful affair, my answer is no."
- Jenny's expression immediately changed upon hearing that, and she gritted her teeth. However, knowing that Michael was present, she could only turn her head and tug at him. "Michael, Jasmine really doesn't want to forgive me. I... I should just break up with you."
- "Having an affair?" Michael narrowed his eyes, trying to process this information.
- "Jasmine, do you not know who is actually having an affair? Isn't it clear to you?"
- Jasmine furrowed her brows. That's right, she was the one who had snatched Michael from Fiona's hands by collaborating with Grandma.
- But he had his own struggles in making that decision.
- If it weren't for what Fiona had done at that time, she wouldn't have agreed to Grandma's request...
