Chapter 1 Wife To Sleep

  • "Is this Mrs. Lopez? Your sister and husband were involved in an accident while engaged in intimate activity in the car. They are currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. We kindly request your presence at this time."
  • Upon answering the phone, Jasmine Lopez had just concluded an IV drip session and exited the patient's room. Initially dismissing the call as nonsense, she promptly ended the conversation.
  • Suddenly, a commotion erupted on the balcony as several anxious nurses approached, pushing a stretcher. Jasmine stepped aside, her attention drawn to the dark jacket worn by the woman on the stretcher.
  • It was the same suit that Michael Fulton had chosen, the style and color personally selected by Jasmine . A foreboding feeling washed over her as she locked eyes with the woman's face, causing her own eyes to widen in disbelief.
  • One of the nurses noticed her and paused, glancing in her direction. "Hello, are you a family member of the patient?" Jasmine nodded, her heart trembling, and replied, "Yes...yes, she is my sister."
  • "It appears that the victim was involved in an accident during a moment of intimacy. If you are a family member, please remain here momentarily as her boyfriend will be arriving soon..."
  • "Boyfriend..." Jasmine furrowed her brow, her lips forming the words, when did my sister acquire a boyfriend?
  • "Yes, indeed, her boyfriend has arrived..." The nurse's eyes gleamed, pointing behind Jasmine .
  • Footsteps echoed on the floor as a tall figure swiftly approached.
  • Jasmine's steps halted as she beheld the person walking towards her.
  • At that moment, Michael Fulton had already reached her, one hand nonchalantly tucked into his trousers pocket, as he glanced at Jasmine. "Jasmine? What brings you here?"
  • "That is the question I should be asking you," Jasmine clenched her fists, her gaze fixed on the person before her, uttering each word with determination.
  • Her mind raced, unable to escape the thoughts of the accident that occurred during their intimate encounter in the car, her sister's boyfriend, and that phone call...
  • "As you can see, your sister and I were brought to the hospital." The tall Michael looked at her, pointing to his injured forehead.
  • Jasmine drew closer, spotting a drop of blood!
  • "The nurse mentioned that you two were engaged in intimate activity in the car... and then the accident happened?" She bit her lower lip, struggling to complete her sentence.
  • One was her biological older sister, and the other was her beloved husband... both involved in an accident while engaging in intimate activity in the car. She had foolishly believed the call to be a prank.
  • "Yes," Michael responded without a hint of remorse.
  • Jasmine felt as if her heart had been sliced by a knife.
  • That night, she had a high fever and attempted to contact Michael , but received no response. His messages went unanswered.
  • Attempting to calm herself, Jasmine convinced herself that her husband was simply occupied with work and had no time to respond. Thus, she ventured alone to the hospital for an IV drip...
  • Unbeknownst to her, he was not busy with work, but rather preoccupied with her sister in the car!
  • "Michael, I may not care if you are involved with other women, but she is my own sister... how could you do such a thing!"
  • Jasmine covered her mouth, unable to bring herself to ask the man.
  • The woman's pale hand, marked with IV needle punctures, suddenly displayed a line of blood, unbeknownst to Jasmine, who felt no pain.
  • Because the pain in his heart was far greater...
  • How could she have ever imagined that her husband of three years would engage in an affair with her own sister, betraying their marriage... "Jasmine, I cannot resist your sister's body and face; she is more submissive than you, and exceptional in bed. I will undoubtedly choose her, there is no other option!"
  • Michael covered his lips, then let out a cold laugh, treating Jasmine as a mere joke.
  • "Michael... over these three years, do you consider me your wife?" Jasmine's voice quivered, her attempts to hold back tears proving futile.
  • "Wife? A wife is meant for sharing a bed, but you, after three years of marriage, are like a lifeless fish in bed. I feel nothing! You believe that being Mr. Fulton's wife makes you my wife? You are mistaken, utterly improper!"
  • Michael looked down upon her.
  • After uttering those words, the man did not spare Jasmine a second glance, striding away towards the operating room with his long legs.
  • As the footsteps faded into the distance, Jasmine leaned against the wall, preventing herself from collapsing.
  • Her heart felt empty, consumed by an overwhelming ache.
  • From beginning to end, it seemed that she had been nothing more than a mockery. In his heart, she was deemed unworthy of being a wife.
  • Perhaps she had made the wrong choice three years ago. She should never have married into the Fulton family, subjecting herself to this outcome... three years of marriage, accepting the consequences.
  • Amidst the sympathy of passersby, Jasmine, in her high heels, slowly made her way out of the hospital. With each step, the glimmer of her wedding ring, adorning her slender ring finger, distracted her gaze.
  • And as she departed the hospital, when no one was around, Jasmine weakly squatted down, burying her face in her knees. Her trembling back betrayed the tears streaming from her eyes.
  • At that moment, her cell phone buzzed in her pocket.
  • Jasmine took a deep breath, raising her reddened eyes to retrieve her phone. The screen displayed her mother's name.
  • She hesitated for a moment before answering the call, her voice filled with tears. "Mom... what's wrong?"
  • "Jasmine, I was on the verge of panic! Your sister was involved in an accident. Where are you? Hurry and come visit Jenny!" Susan Sullivan's voice sounded frantic on the other end.
  • "I..." The corners of his eyes stung, unsure of how to explain to her mother that her Sister and husband had been involved in an accident due to their intimate activities in the car. Simultaneously, she did not wish for her mother to believe she was betraying her Sister.
  • After a brief pause, she finally spoke, "Mom, I am currently occupied and unable to visit my sister..."
  • "Jasmine, what could be more important than your sister? Jenny is lying in the hospital after an accident, and here you are, neglecting your duties as a sister. I have raised you all these years for nothing; it seems I have been nurturing an ungrateful wolf!"
  • Susan failed to notice Jasmine's hoarse voice and continued scolding her.
  • "Mom... can you not only think about my older sister? I am also your daughter, how can you disregard my well-being!"
  • Jasmine forcefully ended the call, yet lingered before hanging up completely.
  • Throughout her life, everyone seemed to favor her older sibling...
  • And she, despite being in the same position, with parents and family, lived as though devoid of love, with no one to care for her...
  • Jasmine closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face.
