• "You can’t do this to me! What did I say that you didn't understand? I'm not interested in marrying a man. I'm a lesbian, so there's no way in hell I'd marry a man!" Claire screamed angrily as she faced her parents.

I'd rather have poor parents than rich parents like you, who can't even accept me for who I am." She spoke up.
• When she felt that she was going to cry again, she immediately restrained herself.
• She should be strong. She has to show her parents that she is not weak, that she would not allow them to do just what they wanted.
• From the startled expression, his father's jaws suddenly tightened. "Why can't you agree? Is it your girlfriend's fault? Is it because of her that you dare to defy us?" His father inquired. "Claire, we've already given you plenty of time to mess around. I allowed you to have a relationship with that woman because your mother told me to. But I'm done with you, fooling around. You will marry Dave whether you like it or not!" Her father yelled angrily, but she refused to budge.
• This time, she will be the one to make the decision. "Dad, this is my life." Her gaze was drawn to her parents. "And I'm not going to let you dictate me any longer." She said this as she turned around and walked towards the front door of their house.
• She could hear her mother calling her, but she didn't turn around and just kept walking until she was out of their house.
• "Please accept my apologies, Drei. I just don't know where else to go. You're my one and only best friend." Claire said to Andrei, her best friend.
• Andrei is her one and only best friend. They've been friends since high school, and Andrei is the only one she trusts the most out of all her friends. She knows he's not going to say anything to her parents.
• "So, what are your current plans? Is Ruby already aware of this?" Andrei inquired after she told him what had occurred between her and her parents.
• She suddenly remembered Ruby.
• Ruby has been her girlfriend for a year already. And like her, Ruby also came from a well-known clan but that is not enough for her parents to accept her relationship with her. And her father is right. Ruby is one of the reasons why she disagreed with the fixed marriage. She loves Ruby very much and she knows that she loves her too. So no matter what his father does or says, she will never allow it and agree to it.
• "She doesn't know anything. I haven't told her yet. I instantly came here after I left the house. Also, I don't want her to be involved in my problems anymore. She already has a lot on her mind." She replied to Andrei.

• Andrei is right. She just can't seem to argue with what Andrei said.
• She just sighed.
• A few minutes passed before Andrei spoke again causing her to return her attention to him. "What are you going to do now? I'm sure you can't use your credit cards because right now, your father is freezing your accounts." Andrei asked.
• "I'm sorry, Drei. I'll be a burden to you for now. I have nowhere else to go so---" But before she could finish her sentence, Andrei already held her hands that were on her thigh.
• Andrei gently squeezed her hands and looked her in the eyes with understanding. "Claire, you are not a burden to me. You know you can rely on me at any time. I'm only concerned about you. I know you. I know you won't accept my help aside from living here in my house." Andrei said as he smiled warmly at her.
• "Drei, just allowing me to stay here is already a huge deal for me. And I don't want to ask for anything else because it would be too much." She responded with a smile.
• If she's just straight, she'll probably be one of those women who are madly in love with Andrei.
• Andrei is nearly perfect. That's why she's perplexed as to why he still doesn't have a girlfriend. He has never introduced her to a girlfriend.
• "Thank you very much, Drei. This is one I owe you." She took Andrei's hand in hers and tapped him on the back of the hand. "Don't worry, I'll look for work as soon as possible so that I can contribute at least for food." With a smile on her face, she said to Andrei before standing up and staring out the window directly in front of her.
• Andrei stood up and moved behind her. "You're welcome to work for us, Claire." Andrei made the offer.
• But she declined the offer right away. "Drei, I thought you already knew me? You know I'm not going to take your offer, don't you?" She replied and smiled at Andrei once more.
• Andrei gave a small smile and shook his head. "Yes, I am aware. I was merely attempting to persuade you to think about it. It's a job, after all."
• "Yes. However, you will be my boss. And knowing you, I know you'll be gentle with me." Andrei laughed as she responded with a roll of eyes. "I'd also like to learn how to apply for jobs. Being interviewed, for example. I want to work hard for myself to get what I want, I want to show Mom and Dad that I can live without their help, that I can stand on my own two feet without their assistance, so please, Andrei, just let me."
