Chapter 7 Elevation
- "Jackson! What are you still waiting for to get him comfortable in the car?" The old man's voice reverberates as Jackson rushes down and opens the car door for Rex like a royal person.
- Jackson's outfit stunned Rex; he couldn't accept the fact that he was just a guard for the old man. His dress was not different from that of the president's son.
- Rex wondered how costly the old man's clothes would be for him to have his servant wear such expensive outfits, then he would wear the most expensive.
- Jackson opened the car door for Rex, and he stepped in the car; he couldn't believe he was the one who just entered the most expensive car in the whole of Bloomsbury district. He had never imagined he would enter such a car. Just a few hours ago, he was in jail, and now he is in Pagani H.P. Barchetta.
- Rex stared at each of the guards inside the car, observing their outfits one by one to know how much they would cost, but he could not believe the first guard that approached him and opened the car door for him wore nonsense compared to what other personnel wore.
- He turned to stare at the old man, he was fully prepared to see how glittering his outfit would be. But rather, Mr. Alphonsus was wearing a normal, simple dress.
- He couldn't hold the shock, so he whispered to Jackson and asked the reason for the simple dress their boss was wearing, unaware.
- "Don't you know he's already old, that would result in him selecting the wrong cloth thinking it's the right one he expected," Rex asked, feeling infuriated seeing them, the servants wearing expensive and neatly ironed suits while their boss was wearing casual wear.
- Although the old man's dress is way too expensive to compare with the one Rex was wearing, it is nothing to compare with what his boys are wearing.
- "Don't worry, Mr. Rex; that's how he dresses when going places where he doesn't know the quality of their security," Jackson replied politely.
- He explained to Rex that the reason behind that act was for his safety; he doesn't want outsiders to recognize him as a billionaire tycoon, which may cause them to seek out how to kidnap him.
- "Oh, what a brave man! So this outfit was for disguising?"
- "Absolutely, sir," Jackson replied.
- Throughout their drive to Mr. Alphonsu's house, Rex was busy admiring the interiors of the Pagani HP Barchetta; it was still like a daydream to him.
- The old man noticed his actions and was beaming with smiles, for Rex doesn't know what awaits him in the future.
- They drove to the old man's house. It was a beautiful mansion, with many sculptures on the fence walls.
- "Why didn't you tell me earlier that we were heading to the government house? What would you earn for misleading me, Mr. Alphonsus?" Rex reverberated with disappointment written over his face.
- "What do you gain from this surprise job offer when I'm not fully prepared? I'm not looking good, I didn't prepare for the interview they will do, and I haven't bathed since yesterday; how would they accept me for this cleaning job when I, the cleaner, am not looking clean? As Rex was vomiting those words, the old man Alphonsus and his bodyguards were astonished by Rex's action.
- Rex thought the man wanted to reward him for the honest work he did for him in the past by getting him to work in the government house. Although he was happy thinking old man Alphonsus got a job for him, his anger was that he was not prepared for the interview he expected would start soon, adding to his appearance.
- "Young Rex, calm down, okay? As long as my senses are still within my reach, I would never allow you to work as a cleaner or home service worker anywhere, even if in my house, and neither will I secure a job for you without your consent and take you to the venue just to embarrass you," the old man explained.
- Rex thought he heard the old man speak negatively.
- "What then was the purpose of this man taking me here? He told me we should go to his place to discuss something meaningful, but now he has taken me to this unknown place.
- "The day I worked for him that the incident he said about happened, this wasn't the house; this was not where I worked for him before," Rex monologued internally as he was still confused about the drama the old man was doing to him.
- Mr. Alphonsus walked toward Jackson, whispered something to him, and walked inside the building.
- Rex kept admiring the building standing before him; some flowers were planted in some places in the compound. The duplex has no comparison to the many big places he has visited and been to in his life.
- "Was this man trying to shoot a movie that made him hire this prominent house? The film will go global though, if for nothing else; this house alone is enough for great sales," he murmured.
- "I'm sorry, Mr. Rex, but the master said you should come inside his house with me; he wants to see you inside now," Jackson said.
- Rex could not handle what he heard: "Did you say his house?"
- "Yes, Young Master Rex, your house to be in the future," he added.
- "I have come to realize this is how you all were trained—to be making expensive jokes when it's unnecessary, it seemed you chose frivolity over priority." Anyway, since your master could bring me here without my consent, why then won't you have the impetus to make this big joke, saying, "My future house?" Rex barked.
- "I'm sorry, Mr. Rex, but it is what it is."
- Rex hissed immediately after he heard the statement. "It seems like he did not train them to accept correction from outsiders," he mumbled.
- "You said your master wanted to see me?"
- "Yes, young master Rex," Jackson replied.
- "Give me two minutes, please," Rex replied, and he went to the other edge of the car to adjust and arrange himself to look decent and responsible, for he was about to enter for an interview, from his perspective.
