Chapter 6 Arrest

  • "That's him; arrest him!" Kanye West commanded the corps, who were busy approaching Rex; they appeared where he was sitting and tried to handcuff him. Immediately, the security officers of Range Global JD Hotel rushed in their direction to know what was happening.
  • Rex was stunned by the suddenness; likewise, Andrea. The police officer didn't waste any time, and they followed the order commanded by the celebrity student. They cuffed Rex and dragged him to their van. One of the hotel attendants blocked the corps from moving, demanding to know the reason for arresting one of their clients.
  • "Excuse me, Mr., but this is a violation, and we don't allow that here to talk more about doing that to our customers; therefore, you have ten seconds to dilute the violations you are causing or else face the company's action."
  • "Get out of the way, or you face my wrath now," Kanye poke-nosed.
  • "We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by us; we are the police officers, trying to bring justice to this gentleman here," he said, pointing at Kanye and displaying the ID card he wore on his neck, which has been dangling in his chest all the while the conflict started.
  • During that time, no one knew Kanye was live on his macro page, displaying how he arrested the poorest student on campus. And his fans were throwing different sorts of comments in the comment section.
  • "Oh wow, he finally arrested the nuisance that robbed his girlfriend. That serves the thief right; he was even caught at the most expensive hotel in town, squandering the money he stole with his friend," the first commenter said.
  • "Wow, is that not whiskey I'm seeing there?"
  • "No, that's the latest brand of champagne he bought."
  • "He may be innocent of all the accusations." What if it was a setup for the poor guy?
  • "All this might be acting to gain more audiences and followers."
  • The more the comments flowed, the happier Kanye West became because that was his most streamed live video so far on Macro.
  • Rex found himself in police detention; he still finds it difficult to believe he has been arrested after all the embarrassment Kanye caused him at Vingood Lodge, yet he still proceeds to stop him.
  • "Young man, you are charged with three offenses, which are: violation of privacy, robbery, and humiliation; you humiliated the person; you robbed his girlfriend after he tried to get the properties back; and you were fined $4,000 to bail yourself out, or you remain here," the police officer said.
  • The accusations stunned him; he wanted to prove his innocence, but he knew that with Kanye, his efforts to prove his innocence would be abortive. And to accept the accusation that he is guilty, he must pay $3,000, when he does not even have a quarter of the money. The amount he barely makes in six months, not to mention when expenses and taxes have been paid. $3,000 was approximately what he barely saved every two years just for his school activities with the ones he got from charities. He concluded that he would remain in jail since he had no one to bail him out. Just then, Andrea appeared from nowhere and bailed him out.
  • After Andrea bailed him out, he decided not to go home with her in his car and trekked. While the rain was sizzling, he was trekking down a lonely path he didn't even know existed; all he craved at that moment was isolation and being alone, deeply thinking about what exactly fate had in store for him. Suddenly, he sighted a beautiful luxury car speeding in his direction. Although he is studying at one of the most prominent universities in town, filled with different big boys, he hasn't seen a car to compare with the one speeding towards him.
  • He moved to the edge of the damaged road, but the car sped up and suddenly stopped beside him, which resulted in it splashing dirty water from the potholes on Rex.
  • Rex got mad at the person behind the car, and he rushed to the car with aggressive anger burning inside him. After a few steps to get to the car, the glass whined down, and Rex sighted an old man with hefty guards in the car; he knew with those bouncers, he could not even remove a single hair from the old man's body.
  • Seeing those hefty men calmed his anger in the twinkle of an eye.
  • "Young man, I'm sorry for the dirty water splashed on your body because my driver matched the accelerator forcefully. Well, you caught my attention while we wanted to pass you, but I told my driver to stop, for you look familiar," the old man tried to explain to Rex, who was busy staring at him to know where he was heading.
  • "So, how do I help you, sir?" Rex asked, expecting the old man to go straight to his point and stop beating around the bush; he needed to continue his trek and grieve about his miserable life.
  • "Ok, I'm sorry for this that I want to say, but I need to tell you that. Many years ago, my wife and I divorced after several marital issues, which resulted in her moving on with our only son, your father. After many attempts to get your father back failed, I had no option but to leave your father for her.
  • As the old man narrated the whole story, Rex was already losing it; he wanted to hear the main reason for all those talks. He couldn't wait for the old man to conclude his narration, and he interrupted.
  • "Alright, sir, I appreciate how you referred to me as your grandson, which not every prominent man like you would do, referring to a nobody like me as their grandson; I appreciate it," Rex said, and he wanted to continue to his destination, but the man prevented him.
  • "Ehhmm, young man, the reason why I stopped is not really, as I said earlier; please, I have something significant to let you know," the old man added.
  • "What did this man read from me?" Rex murmured.
  • "Alright, sir, go on," he responded.
  • "Let's go to my house and discuss it there, where you can chill. You look devastated, and you may have worked yourself into a stupor. It's something important and worth discussing, which is not supposed to be discussed here this mid-evening; besides, this route is dangerous; I believe you hear what happens here every night in the next two hours to come; I was even amazed seeing you walking here alone comfortably," the old man enunciated, but little did he know Rex was no more scared of anything, for he has seen something beyond human comprehension, which is the dark side of life.
  • "What does this old man need from me? Was he planning to kidnap me on a platter of gold in disguise?" Rex murmured.
