Chapter 3 The Rebirth of a Female Student

  • At Zayredonia.
  • Blackville No.2 High School, Grade 10 Class 1.
  • It was the final self-study session before the weekend.
  • The sound of pens scratching the papers filled the air, gradually awakening someone in the present moment.
  • Her shoulder was gripped firmly, gently swaying back and forth.
  • Just before Laura fully regained consciousness, she heard a faint male voice beside her, "Laura, wake up, come on, wake up. Honestly, even if the teacher were lecturing at the podium, you'd still manage to fall asleep."
  • "Wake up! The teacher is coming down for patrol! Do you want to get caught and have your parents called?"
  • Fully coming to her senses, Laura opened her eyes to see a teenage boy in school uniform, with a crew cut and a youthful face, looking at her with concern.
  • His hand rested on her shoulder.
  • Being her desk mate, Lucas Moore noticed the teacher about to descend from the podium for patrol. He simply shook Laura awake out of kindness, hoping to spare her from the teacher's reprimand.
  • But to his utter astonishment, the next moment, the classmate he thought was powerless—Laura—casually swung a leg and effortlessly flipped him onto the desk.
  • Stretching out her hand, she grabbed his collar and leveraged her height advantage from standing on the desk, effortlessly lifting him up.
  • "Who are you? Which organization sent you to assassinate me? "
  • Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Laura, always alert due to her innate assassin's instincts, swiftly grabbed the boy's arm and coldly interrogated him.
  • As she spoke, her gaze swept around, her senses sharpened. When she took in the unfamiliar surroundings, her brow furrowed even more tightly.
  • Where ... was this?
  • Wasn't I just plummeting through the air moments ago after jumping from a plane?
  • "What organization?"
  • "Assassination?"
  • "Laura, are you half asleep or something? Dreaming about being chased by someone? Haha, that's hilarious!"
  • The students in the class were already slouched on their desks, lethargically awaiting the end of the last study session before dismissal, eager to head home.
  • When Laura suddenly spoke and acted out of character, the entire class paused in surprise, then erupted into laughter.
  • "Hey, Laura! Are you out of your mind? I'm your desk mate, Lucas!"
  • "Ugh! Where did you learn to be this strong? Let go, ugh ... "
  • Lucas exclaimed loudly, standing on tiptoe in bewilderment.
  • His voice reached Laura's ears, but she didn't release her grip on him.
  • Her gaze fell on the smooth and delicate hand effortlessly lifting a teenage boy weighing over a hundred pounds.
  • This hand was not hers.
  • Years of handling guns and blades had left Laura's hands unusually rough, covered in scars both on the palms and the back.
  • This wasn't her body either.
  • The moment she grabbed the boy, she felt it keenly.
  • Her own body wasn't this weak. It shouldn't take this much effort just to lift a teenage boy.
  • What's going on here?
  • Could it be ... I'm being rebirth?
  • "Laura! What are you doing?" A thunderous shout echoed through the entire classroom.
  • Inaya Solace is the math teacher and the homeroom teacher of their class. At forty-eight years old this year, with nearly thirty years of teaching experience, she epitomized the archetype of a stern, old-fashioned female teacher.
  • Just moments ago, she had witnessed Laura physically fight with someone right in front of her during her class—a highly unusual occurrence.
  • Enraged, she grabbed a wooden math ruler from her desk and strode over, banging it loudly on the table twice as a display of authority.
  • "Put Lucas down this instant, Laura! We've just started the school year, and you're already causing such trouble. Do you have any shame left as a girl? In all my years of teaching, I've never encountered such audacity from a female student!
  • "Last week, you were caught writing love letters to boys in the neighboring class, and the entire school heard the contents over the school broadcast. And now, today, openly fighting with classmates! If only you'd put half the effort into your studies as you do into these antics, perhaps you wouldn't be at the bottom of the class!
  • "Today, make sure your parents come to see me! I want to see what kind of parents could raise a child like you!"
  • Inaya continued berating Laura loudly as she walked away with the math ruler in hand.
  • In her impression, Laura was just an irresponsible and shameless underachiever, trailing behind in the class.
  • Recently, she had been caught writing a love letter to a boy, which was then broadcasted over the school's broadcasting room by the boy himself, resulting in a school-wide announcement that made her the subject of widespread gossip.
  • Although it was a boy from the neighboring class who had made the love letter public, in Inaya's view, Laura's academic performance was far inferior to that of the boy.
  • That boy happened to rank among the top students in the entire school academically.
  • Therefore, all of this must be Laura's fault!
  • Inaya remained unaware that Laura standing before her was no longer the same person she once knew.
  • In her place stood a ruthless killer, raised from childhood in an organization of death and bloodshed, now known as the King of Assassins.
  • Before Inaya's ruler could point at Laura, she released her grip on Lucas' hand. In a blur of movement, Laura leapt off the desk and snatched the math ruler from Inaya's hand.
  • Laura held the long ruler lightly in her hand, and before the entire class could react, they saw the ruler held against Inaya's neck, though none of them knew when she had seized it.
  • None of the students present were aware that this ordinary ruler could easily become a deadly weapon in Laura's hands.
  • Laura stared at Inaya, her voice cold and tinged with a hint of bloodlust, "I warn you, stay away from me. Otherwise, you'll bear the consequences."
