Chapter 10 Her Resolve

  • As Gerald remained occupied with his job and was not ready to leave, Bianca was left alone at home.
  • When she discovered that a bunch of thugs was planning to target her kids, Bianca was seized by panic, crying out in desperation.
  • "No, please! This has nothing to do with my children. Leave them out of it, I'm begging you … "
  • Unseen by Laura and Curtis, Bianca, propelled by a mother's fierce love, found herself kneeling before the thugs, desperately making her plea.
  • Seeing his mother in distress, Curtis felt angry and confidently walked up to the door.
  • "Let my mother go! My parents don't owe you any debt! Why is our family being punished for this!"
  • Caught off guard by her children showing up unexpectedly in such a dangerous situation, Bianca quickly moved to grab the tattooed man's leg, pleading with her children to run away.
  • "Curtis! Laura! Don't worry, go! Hurry up and run!"
  • Though it seemed like Gerald and Bianca owed the thugs some money, they weren't the actual borrowers.
  • Some time back, Gerald and an old pal started their little venture, pouring all their savings into it. Unfortunately, the friend took off with all their business cash, sticking them with a hefty debt to some unsavoury characters.
  • Unable to find their original target, the gangsters shifted their focus to Gerald's family.
  • Not bothered by the rules of debt, they carried on with their harmful pursuits, caring little about who got hurt.
  • The group, led by the fearsome Jeremy Wallace, known for his dragon tattoo, soon overpowered Curtis, who, despite his physical prowess, couldn't fend them off.
  • Jeremy, advancing on Curtis with a menacing aura, ignored Bianca's desperate attempts to stop him, her pleas and interventions making no difference.
  • The situation took an unexpected turn at that critical moment when a young girl's voice cut through the tension.
  • "Simply cutting off his hand is too ordinary."
  • The idea of severing a hand didn't spark excitement among Jeremy and his gang, who were used to eliciting fear and witnessing despair in their victims.
  • Most people would be terrified by the brutal act of hand-cutting, but here was someone not only devoid of fear but also speaking with unwavering confidence.
  • Jeremy and his companions were surprised as they turned to find a girl in relaxed clothing, tall and slim, her simple ponytail showcasing a surprisingly beautiful face partially concealed under her bangs.
  • This pure and attractive girl approached them; her words, however, carried a fierce tone.
  • Could she also be the daughter of the Ingalls?
  • Even as her brother faced the harsh possibility of hand amputation, she stayed calm and voiced her support.
  • The atmosphere was charged with confusion.
  • "Laura?" Bianca was notably taken aback and lost for words.
  • Jeremy let out a nervous laugh, clearly intrigued, as he turned his attention to Laura. "So, tell me, what piques your curiosity?" he inquired.
  • Laura arched an eyebrow, her lips forming a tight line, and a chilly sparkle danced in her gaze.
  • In a blink, she closed the distance between herself and Jeremy, her quickness leaving the onlookers in awe.
  • Her demeanour was frosty as she looked down at Jeremy, who appeared paralyzed with fear.
  • In an instant, she had him pinned to the ground, brandishing a gleaming kitchen knife.
  • Without hesitating, she aimed the blade toward Jeremy's fingers.
  • "Damn it!" A voice filled with panic shattered the eerie silence that had settled over the scene.
  • Spectators stood stunned, primarily since Jeremy, known for his toughness, was among them.
  • However, the way Laura handled the knife with such ease and familiarity suggested she had performed such terrifying acts numerous times before.
  • Could this seemingly harmless girl really be just an average teenager?
