Chapter 6 Samuel Nixon Lodges A Complaint

  • Amanda never expected that, in her most helpless moment, the very person who made her a laughingstock would step forward to defend her—it was truly ironic.
  • "Oh my, I'm really moved. How does it feel to be protected by a vagabond? Hahaha."
  • Samuel Nixon began mocking again.
  • Amanda gritted her teeth. She knew very well that the one who caused her humiliation was none other than Samuel Nixon and his father, Alfred Nixon.
  • Both she and Ken were just tools being manipulated.
  • She didn't hate Ken, but she harbored intense resentment towards Samuel Nixon. For the sake of family fortune, they could be so heartless.
  • "Wife, from now on, no one can bully you."
  • Ken's words were decisive, echoing like a devil's proclamation throughout the banquet hall.
  • "Oh, well, no one can bully her yet? Let me do it. What can you do to me?"
  • Samuel Nixon taunted arrogantly, his tone mocking, "You, a vagabond, think we chose you and suddenly you're someone important?"
  • But what happened next left everyone stunned.
  • "Smack!"
  • The sound of a resounding slap echoed through the hall.
  • Samuel Nixon spun in place, unbelievably covering his face, staring wide-eyed, murmuring, "You, you dare to hit me?"
  • Ken walked forward slowly. "You just hit my wife. I want you to pay back tenfold."
  • Then, in full view of everyone, Ken's slaps fell like a storm, driving Samuel Nixon to scurry away, covering his head.
  • Amanda hurriedly wiped away her tears, watching this scene in disbelief.
  • He did hit Samuel Nixon.
  • How was this possible?
  • The entire Nixon family, including Samuel Nixon, was untouchable. He actually dared to hit him, and for her?
  • At this moment, Amanda's mind went blank again.
  • "Alright, you two scoundrels dare to hit me. You're both dead. Just wait for it!"
  • Samuel Nixon rushed to the door, pointing at Ken's nose, cursing loudly, "Useless scum, you two are really made for each other. Daring to hit me, I won't let you die a good death!"
  • Ken made as if to chase him, and Samuel Nixon, in panic, fled the banquet hall.
  • Amid the shocked crowd, Ken turned and walked to Amanda.
  • Ken directly princess-carried Amanda, picking her up without a word, and left the place where everyone was pointing fingers.
  • Amanda was still dazed. Since her father's death, no one had ever stood up for her. Even her mother hadn't defended her when she was bullied.
  • For Ken to actually, really hit Samuel Nixon for her?
  • When Amanda finally reacted, she realized she was being princess-carried by Ken.
  • "Quick, let go of me. Put me down."
  • Ken put her down, an embarrassed and silly smile on his face. He scratched his head and said, "Sorry, I didn't want to see you ridiculed. I wanted to take you away quickly."
  • Amanda blushed involuntarily, lowering her head weakly.
  • Finally, someone had stood up for her.
  • The feeling of being protected for the first time was comforting.
  • Although Amanda felt a sense of relief, her reason told her that hitting Samuel Nixon would have serious consequences.
  • Ken, escorting Amanda out of the hotel, she finally spoke.
  • "Why did you hit him?"
  • "Because he hit you. I'm protecting you. Seeking revenge for you is only right, isn't it?"
  • "Don't worry. From today on, as long as I'm here, no one can bully you."
  • Amanda was shaken by Ken, the man who had made her a laughingstock, actually hitting someone to protect her.
  • Once again, Amanda's heart was moved. The feeling of having someone protect her was truly wonderful.
  • Ken opened the car door and escorted Amanda inside. It was only at this moment that she realized.
  • "Where are we going?"
  • "I'm taking you home. It's not safe here."
  • Amanda's heart skipped a beat. The slight favor she had just felt towards Ken vanished in this moment.
  • After all, this was their first meeting. Even though he was the chosen son-in-law of the family, he was taking her home.
  • This...
  • The intrigues and manipulations within the Nixon family to humiliate her by choosing Ken as the son-in-law, how could she forget?
  • ...
  • In the hotel.
  • Alfred Nixon was discussing business when Samuel Nixon rushed in frantically.
  • "Dad, this is too much."
  • Samuel Nixon's sudden arrival disrupted the ongoing negotiations.
  • "Well, how about you two discuss first, and we'll find another time to talk."
  • "Sure, I look forward to the collaboration between the two companies."
  • Alfred Nixon shook hands with the businessmen and saw them off. After everyone left, he impatiently said, "What's going on?"
  • "Dad, I was beaten by someone. Look at my face!"
  • Alfred Nixon was taken aback, realizing his son's face was flushed. He nervously asked, "Who did this?"
  • "Amanda's useless man. He actually dared to hit me."
  • Alfred Nixon was furious. "I gave him face, and he dares to hit you? He's asking for death."
  • "Dad, I was beaten at the banquet hall, and many people saw it. You have to help me get justice."
  • Samuel Nixon began to act pitiful.
  • "Damn it, just when I didn't have an excuse to kick Amanda out of the company, he actually dares to hit you. Now I have a reason!"
  • Alfred Nixon, annoyed, took out his phone to make a call. The matter of the son-in-law selection was over, but the consequences were just beginning.
