Chapter 4 His Fiancée

  • Four years ago, Zac became a drunkard. Then he started gambling.
  • Drinking and gambling made the once-happy home no longer feel like one. The good husband and father he used to be had long since faded away.
  • Cecilia's eyes were filled with sorrow. "I've done unspeakable things just to help you! If you don't change your ways, you'll only end up hurting my mom and Sean!"
  • "I'm sorry…" Zac apologized and hit himself hard in the face.
  • "Hmph," Cecilia let out a cold laugh and continued, "Remember this if you find yourself gambling again.
  • "I don't care how much you end up owing. Even if someone locks you up, chops off your fingers, or takes your life! It's not my business!
  • "Even if you die, I won't care anymore!" With that, Cecilia turned and left.
  • Jennie cried and cursed at Zac, "You bastard! Have you no conscience! You're going to ruin Cecilia's life…"
  • Tears rolled down Cecilia's cheeks.
  • She had meant what she said. This was the last time she would care about him!
  • She returned to the company.
  • In the afternoon, Harrison had just left on a business trip. His mother, Mrs. Grant, entered the company. A well-dressed girl was by her side.
  • As the CEO's head secretary, Cecilia immediately stood up. "Welcome, Mrs. Grant."
  • Mrs. Grant responded with a nod.
  • She held the hand of the girl next to her and introduced her to Cecilia, "This is Francesca Scott. She's the daughter of Scott Business' founder. She's also Harrison's fiancée.
  • "Francesca has just graduated from college. It'd be good to have her intern as his secretary at his company. That way they can get to know each other more.
  • "Ms. Young, you're Harrison's head secretary. In the future, I believe you'll take care of Francesca just as you take care of Harrison."
  • Cecilia nodded, "Yes, Mrs. Grant."
  • She was respectful, polite, and as formal as ever.
  • Mrs. Grant turned towards the girl, "Francesca, this is Ms. Young. She has been Harrison's head secretary for the past four years and knows everything about him.
  • "In the future, you'll be learning from her. Should you have any problems, Ms. Young's the one you go to."
  • Francesca smiled sweetly, presenting herself as an educated young lady.
  • "Alright, Mrs. Grant. You need not worry. I'll set Ms. Young as my role model."
  • Then, just as Mrs. Grant left, Francesca immediately changed her attitude.
  • She had an arrogant expression and the temperament of a wealthy mistress! With a scornful tone, she told Cecilia, "Move somewhere else. From now on, I'll be sitting here!"
  • "Okay," Cecilia replied.
  • She packed up her things and left, giving her workstation to Francesca.
  • "Hold on."
  • Francesca stopped Cecilia, who was leaving with a box, and ordered her, "Put away your things and make me a cup of coffee. Freshly ground, no sugar!
  • "Also, I feel like eating the pastries from Cloudy Bliss Bakery, and I want you to get them for me!"
  • "Okay."
  • Cecilia exited the CEO's office and placed her things on an empty workstation.
  • Immediately, a secretary walked over. "Cecilia, you're the CEO's head secretary. Why should you give up your seat for her, much less take her orders?"
  • "It's okay," she said.
  • Cecilia left and quickly brewed the coffee as Francesca instructed, "Ms. Scott, here's your coffee."
  • "Okay," Francesca responded.
  • "I'll go get the pastries for you now," Cecilia said.
  • After taking a sip, Francesca frowned. "What kind of coffee is this, why does it taste so bad?"
  • Then she looked at Cecilia, "After you get the pastries, get me a cup of coffee from Starry Sky Coffee House."
  • "Okay."
  • Both locations were located in opposite directions. Plus, they had lots of customers. Everyone would've left work by the time she returned with the items.
  • Francesca was making things difficult for her!
  • All the CEO's office secretaries looked at Francesca, gossiping among themselves. They hadn't grasped Francesca's personality enough to know whether she'd be easy to get along with. For the time being, they only looked on and dared not approach her.
  • "Hey, you guys. Come here," Francesca said to the other secretaries in the CEO's office.
  • Dressed in branded clothing, she stood there with an unignorable aura. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Francesca Scott, the daughter of Scott Business' founder and the fiancée of your CEO."
  • Because of her identity, everyone immediately started flattering her.
  • Francesca was very pleased.
  • Although she had just graduated from college, she knew a lot about workplace culture.
  • Instantly she said, "Today's my first day at work. After work, I'll treat everyone to dinner. You guys are free to pick any location! Of course, the more lavish, the better."
  • After work that day, Francesca treated everyone in the CEO's office to dinner and then invited them to a few drinks and karaoke.
  • Cecilia didn't join them.
