Chapter 41

• Never in my life have I attended a funeral. Never in my life have I hurt so greatly for someone I barely knew.
• If someone I know dies, we usually share our condolences, and then that’s it. The only people who I have lost dear to me were my siblings, and they didn’t even have a funeral, because their bodies were ‘never found’.
• We had three memorials. One for Aliah, One for Alex and then one for both of them. But to have their bodies in front of me—to see them one last time and say goodbye? I never had that.
