Chapter 89

  • Sophia couldn't sleep, tossing and turning for hours since Bryan brought them home in a cab. However, she hesitated to get out of bed and disturb Glenda, a light sleeper who would likely hear her movements. Glenda appeared exhausted, and she didn't want to burden her with her problems until morning. One of them should be well-rested, at the very least. Her mind was in disarray, and she hadn't shared with Glenda about kissing Leon or where he had gone after he left. Glenda was unaware of Celine, and Bryan didn't seem to know yet either. She assumed Leon would have informed Bryan after his departure.
  • She understood. The responsibility Leon felt for the situation and being called upon to accompany Celine to the hospital. Celine's attempted suicide meant she shouldn't be alone in her condition. It made sense that she sought Leon's support, considering the role he played in her pain. She could empathize, remembering times when all she wanted was Leon by her side, even amidst the anguish he caused.
  • She found it difficult to accept. Leon's sense of obligation to be there for Celine, acting as her pillar of support. He was fulfilling a role for Celine that he hadn't for her. Despite his attempts to reassure her before leaving, it stirred up conflicting emotions. She felt a mix of anger and hurt, regretting not expressing herself more clearly to Leon. She wished she had told him not to go, even if it seemed inevitable.
