• Silence accompanied Maksim throughout the long ride. He put a call to Christian, reminding his friend to monitor the locations he had sent to him. It was only a matter of time before Papa broke. He had ignored the man so much he was certain Papa would send his people after him. All he had to do was bid his time. Be patient.
• Maksim arrived in Nightfall Hills a few minutes before their agreed time. He put a call to Knox, reminding him about their alliance. What he was about to do now would set him and Papa apart forever. He wanted his wife back home, but not at the risk of him dying before he found her.
• Knox didn’t reply to his text but called him. At the end of the call, he was feeling better than he had since Camilla’s disappearance. Antony asked to meet at a local coffee shop. So, Maksim scoured the place twice to be sure it wasn’t a setup. Satisfied, he entered and got a table at the back of the shop.
