• We both got out of the car and started walking inside the mall, with Mateo a few steps away from us. We kept going around the mall, not really buying much, till we got to the baby section, and I gave Samantha a look that said, "What the hell are we doing here?"
• She let out a sheepish smile, discreetly looking behind us to see what Mateo was doing.
• "Hey Mani, can we go to the hospital before we go home?" Samantha stated it out loud for Mateo to hear, and I got a glimpse of what she was playing at.
