Chapter 28
- Niklaus:
- “Niklaus, who is that man?” Kiara asked as we entered the palace, the guards and maids bowing at the sight of us entering, Ian and Grace walking close behind. My anger could be seen a mile away, everyone in the palace was making it obvious as they kept their eyes down avoiding my wrath. Of course, I just saw the one man who was my sworn enemy and he dared approach my mate and kingdom. I could hear my princess’s racing heart as she followed me through the halls of the palace not answering her question, as my mind raced. I couldn’t even process how that bastard managed to enter the kingdom without getting noticed by the guards. How was it possible that I didn’t notice that he was there in front of me? I didn’t even catch his scent, and he was right in front of me. Hell, he even dared speak to me, and I didn’t even know that it was him.
- “Not now, Kiara” I warned walking toward our chamber, slamming the door shut as I walked inside, I knew that Kiara’s eyes widened and I was aware that she took a step back in shock of my action, hearing her speaking to Ian from behind the door. Her voice sounding worried as she tried understanding what was going on, but knowing that my anger would be something that she wouldn’t be able to handle right now, I didn’t walk to the door to open it for her, even though I knew that I couldn’t blame her for what happened. She didn’t even know of Verone’s existence and I couldn’t take my anger out on her, it wasn’t her fault. I should have gotten rid of him long before I brought her to the kingdom, I should have found a way to do so. Him being alive, hidden or not, I should have managed to find a way to find, and kill him before I brought my mate here.
