Chapter 30 - The Face

• The next day, Emma woke up to incessant knocking. She put on a robe and a mask and limped to the door.
• Her legs felt clammy, but she was otherwise fine. However, she exaggerated and acted like someone had put her through the grinder.
• The maid saw her ghastly appearance and dropped the tray. Emma was too tired to react, and her dull eyes were blank. She waited a few moments and closed the door when the maid did not speak.
