Chapter 24

• Tony padded down the living room to his mother's room, the early morning light streaming through the windows. He had just woken up from a blissful night's sleep and wanted to check on his mother, who had been unwell for some time.
• He knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Instead, he heard the sound of someone moving about inside. He opened the door, only to find the maid, busy tidying up the room.
• "Good morning, sir," the maid said with a smile. "I'm sorry, but your mother is not here right now."
