Chapter 13
- My hands trembled as I tried to call Isabelle again. Ring. Ring. No connection. The call didn’t even go to voicemail this time—just an eerie, endless silence before the line cut off completely. I tried again, gripping my phone tighter, but the result was the same. Isabelle was unreachable.
- Panic crawled up my spine as I bolted out the door, flagging down a taxi. I barely managed to catch my breath as I climbed in, my heart hammering against my ribs.
- "Take me here. Quickly," I told the driver, showing him the address.
