Chapter 8

  • Song :One call away by Charlie Putt
  • I walked the route, taking drinks to the people on the raised platform of the club where couches and coffee tables were. It was more like a lounge on that raised platform than anything else-in my opinion.
  • Once I dropped their drinks, I turned and raced back to my bar stool. The club may have been busy but there wasn't much demand for drinks.
  • I watched the swaying forms on the dance floor giving it my best effort not to stare at my stalker who had given himself the work of staying at any corner of the bar while I served the customers.
  • He's been doing that since I last had the attack on my way home. He was stubborn and strange. Once it was 5pm in the evening, he would occupy a seat though order one thing or the other.
  • The way he usually stared at me as I served the customers, would make me feel awkward and strange. I would sometimes try not to act clumsy while dropping the drinks on their tables. I had stepped up to him and asked him to leave me alone but he only told me that he wasn't following me. I would end up walking home with him without having a form of conversation with him on the way.
  • "Kat.." Jenny called. I turned and looked at her.
  • "The customer over there ordered this drink. He said I should make sure you bring it to him, the boss was there when he said that." She slipped a paper into my hand and left.
  • I looked at the stranger who I didn't know his name until now and Harris.
  • He's really messing with me. I glared at him and turned to the counter, "Absinthe." I said and hauled ass myself to the bathroom. I took a few breaths in front of the mirror and shook my head, "No, you're not affected, just got out there and gave him his drink."
  • I used my fingers to comb out my long brown hair and clipped my bangs with a flat clip on top of the rest of my hair in a cute way.
  • I exited quickly and carried the tray to his table. I ignored his nasty look at me and dropped off his drink. I turned around to leave quickly but my boss called me back.
  • I stopped and bit my lips before turning to look at Harris. "I need to discuss it with you." My eyes twitched and my heart almost skipped now. I was feeling restless, what has he fed him with this time?.
  • "Now?," I asked and looked at the stranger.
  • "Yep. Sit." Harris replied and pointed at the seat opposite them. I slowly drew out the seat and sat down.
  • "Uhm..Aiden here said he has a proposal for you."
  • Aiden. It was his name, Aiden. I thought inwardly.
  • Aiden was about to talk when his phone beeped. He looked at his phone for a while and then looked up at Harris.
  • "I'm sorry but I have to go." He said and stood up, "We'll speak some other time." He stated and started walking away. My boss watched him exit the bar and we turned to look at ourselves.
  • "That'd be later than. You can go back to work." He said. I stood up and walked away.
  • The night had gone deeper, it was 11:27am and everyone was getting ready to close. The bar was almost empty, the employees had already changed into their clothes while I was cleaning up a mess one of the customers had done over my table.
  • I quickly changed into my top, grabbed my things from the nicely decorated locker room and high tailed it out of place.
  • I slipped out into the slightly chill air of the late night- early morning setting. It was only about midnight so I still got the chance to sleep by 2.
  • My pace was faster than usual and I concentrated on only getting home. Somehow I remembered what Aiden had told me that particular night. And he wasn't here to save me if something would at all happen and no cab was seen in the driveway.
  • But then, I heard the sound of a moving car approaching from the back, I turned and found a black jeep in the driveway and turned in front. But the car pulled up behind me slowly. I continued walking..
  • "Kathleen," I heard a male voice calling me and I stopped, I turned and started walking back. The car window was rolled down to reveal my boss in the driver's seat..
  • "Come in.." He said, and I hesitated.
  • "Come on, " I opened the car door and climbed in.
  • "Thank you.." I said.
  • "Don't mention. It was Aiden's instruction to get you home safely." He disclosed.
  • I didn't say a word to him. "Aiden cares for no one. I was surprised when he said I should make sure you reached home safely." He continued..I didn't know what to say and i maintained my silence.
  • "How did you know Aiden?." He asked that question that made me turn to look at him. My throat dried up as I remembered how that sexy crazy man grabbed me in the plane toilet from behind. Not the way he fucked me in his bathroom the next day.
  • He noticed my silent mode and focused on the driveway. In less than 20 minutes, he stopped in front of my apartment building, and I sighed in relief.
  • "Thank you very much." I appreciated and tried to climb down.
  • "Wait a minute!." He said. I relaxed and looked at him.
  • "About today and what Aiden wants to discuss with you. He proposes a new job for you." I raised my brows.
  • "A new job?." I asked, "Mm-hm. He wants you to work as his personal therapist. He pays really fine." He added. I rolled my eyes, this was his new way of being close to me. Pervert!!.
  • "You don't like it?." My boss asked. I must have made a sad face for Harris to notice I wasn't fine with it.
  • "I'll think about it, boss." I stated. He was amused but shrugged.
  • "It's a rare opportunity to work for Aiden. I would advise you to take up the job immediately." He advised.
  • "Thanks boss." I opened the car and stepped down. I waved as he ignited the car and drove off.
