Chapter 2 Broken Hopes!
- Raajnandini's POV
- Fury engulfed me when I saw his name on the screen.
- "How dare you call me, Alex?"
- I growled at him.
- His amber eyes slowly turned towards me with disappointment as looked at me and dismissed his man.
- "How are you?"
- He chose to ask instead, his eyes void of any emotions like he is dealing with the girl who had a silly crush on a high school boy. My brother always loves to piss me off by chasing away the men I am interested in.
- "When will you guys stop breaking me?"
- I know he doesn't care about the tears falling from my eyes. He only cares what my father believes and wants.
- "I saved you, Raan..."
- He shook his head as he poured the liquid in crystal glass and brought to his lips which is now matching with his eyes.
- "Saved you from what? From the man I loved?"
- I looked at him disgusted.
- "I wanted to marry him, Alex... I wanted to spend my whole life with him."
- "With the man who chose his family over you?"
- He sounds too casual like he is scolding the girl who tried to steal chocolate from his pocket, we have come far from that time and there is nothing casual anymore.
- "Anyone would have done the same"
- I tried to cover Andrew but I know it's of no use.
- "I wouldn't, if you claim to love someone then you should hold the courage to fight for them."
- The man like Alexander has the power to burn down the world for the woman he would love and I hate to admit it but he has the guts to go against my father which was not in my man.
- And the fact is there is no man for me.
- "The men you chose were too weak, Raan... They stepped back from you and ran like a fucking scared dogs with tails in their ass. I just need to give one threat call and it's over, is that what you chose for yourself?"
- I know he is right as a brother but he needs to understand that there are some people who can't stand violence. They are not mafias.
- "We can't let you choose the man for yourself who can't stand for you... Today it's me, tomorrow there will be some of our enemies, what will you do if he leaves you in the hands of enemies to die... You are smarter than this, Raan..."
- "Alex, I can't always invest my feelings in different men just for you to scare them away... You are too powerful for them... There is no man who can stand against the Italian mafia King.."
- There is no one.
- He placed his glass on the table and joined his hands when he was ready to manipulate.
- "Then you are looking at the wrong man... Find someone who can stand against me then only he has a chance to survive in front of Dad... Not to forget that Dominick is also keeping a watch on your safety...."
- I feel caged because of them. There is no life of my own.
- "I hate you, Alex..."
- I cried.
- "You are hating me now but You will understand soon that I was trying to protect you... I know it's difficult for you, but you need to understand that we want a strong man in your life... I have never stopped you from enjoying your life because I am not from those brothers who want to keep his sister a virgin mary and make her a scapegoat for the man who doesn't even deserve her. I want you to go out, enjoy your life, meet different men but choose the right one for you who has the guts to stand in front of us."
- "Well then I'll be single forever"
- I know my scowl is going to offend him but that's the last thing I care about right now.
- "Well he has that option too... Better be safe than sorry"
- He winked at me mockingly and disconnected the call.
- "Nandini, are you okay?"
- Simon walked towards me. So brave of him to ask that when he clearly knows that I am not.
- "Simon, can you do me a favour?"
- I mumbled and his eyes set into a deep frown like I would ask something which he might not be able to give.
- "I am no one to do you a favour, princess..."
- I want to laugh at that title. It sounds more like a captive.
- "Leave me alone tonight... I want to stay with myself, roam with myself... This one night I want you to give me for myself, no watch, no security, no restrictions... I want to roam around like a normal girl and not some mafia princess... I want to celebrate my pain and console myself that this is not the end maybe..."
- My watery eyes looked at him as he tried to fight with his own obligations and duties.
- Dad will kill him if he finds out that Simon let me roam around unprotected so I'll leave it to Simon. He can easily cover it up but Dad can be dangerous.
- Simon tapped on my digital watch and connected it with him.
- "Give me a signal if you need me..."
- He smiled at me and walked away.
- "Thank you"
- I mumbled as he walked away disappearing with the sunshine and covering everything in the dark.
- At least I have night to myself.
- I grabbed my purse and wandered around, mostly at places where Andrew and I used to spend time. The laughs which we shared, the memories we created all went in the drain. He couldn't survive my family and now he won't come back.
- I looked at the couple who was sitting at the place where we used to sit. I hope they find their destination unlike me.
- I feel like crying, it doesn't matter how many tears I have already shed.
- My phone buzzed and I looked at the name on screen.
- Anamika!
- I hope she has something soothing and not like piercing words which Alex threw at me.
- "Hello!"
- "I am sorry you have to go through this"
- Her voice sounds defeated indicating that she has already played her part in arguing with Dad for me. She always does but it doesn't work.
- Dad always listens to her but I don't understand why he is so stubborn when it comes to me.
- "I am fine.."
- I am not going to show her how it's affecting me. There is no use, it's going to hurt her more than me.
- "Love finds its way, Raan... You won't understand when it knocks on your door... Don't lose hope."
- Her voice is really soothing.
- She has no idea that I have already lost hope. I am not going to invest myself in any man who is going to give up on me after doing so much for him. I am just tired.
- Alex is right, I should just enjoy my life. Without any expectations and obligations.
- "I am coming back to Italy, Maa..."
- There is nothing in Hawaii for me. I have spent enough time here.
- "I am waiting"
- I can hear the happiness in her voice. I am missing her too.
- I disconnected the call with a sigh and looked at the dim town.
- Wandering around the streets like this was always a dream which my sophisticated life doesn't allow.
- Daughter of Italian mafia King, famous fashion designer and obedient sister. I am tired of the life I have to maintain. I want to be a savage, wild for some time. Without the fear that my each and every step has consequences.
- I stood on the bridge which connects two beaches. People have already started vacating the beach due to high tide.
- Shops are closed and I have never seen this town getting closed so early.
- "What are you doing here, girl?... Don't you know that there is an alert of heavy rain, go home."
- The woman who was passing by with the empty basket shouted at me. She turned around and hurriedly walked on her way.
- She crossed the bridge and my eyes widened when I saw the gates closing. I rushed towards it.
- "Excuse me! Let me pass..."
- I looked at the officer who was in the cabin and packing his things hurriedly.
- "System is locked, ma'am..."
- Great, so lucky if him to be on the other side of the gate.
- "Go and run towards the opposite gate. It will close in five minutes. This bridge will be closed, it submerges in the water after heavy rain."
- That was enough for me to turn on my heels and flee towards the other end. I looked at the sky which started leaking and within seconds it roared with the thunder and started pouring.
- I stopped when I crossed the gate before it got close but it was of no use. I am completely drenched and there is nothing on this side. It's vacant as much as the other side is occupied by humans.
- "Excuse me, is there any hotel or villa nearby where I can stay tonight."
- I asked the officer in the cabin. He is mimicking the actions of the officer which I saw on the other side.
- "There is one villa a few minutes away, I don't think it's available now but you can try your luck..."
- He walked away with his bag.
- So helpful of him!
- I rolled my eyes and started looking for the villa which he didn't even tell in which direction I will find.
- It's raining heavily and I am shivering in the cold. My thin beach dress is doing nothing but adding to my misery.
- I can't call Simon, he will get the chance to scold me and I can never ask him to leave me alone again. I have to find out the way by myself.
- My eyes sparkled with the lamp which was hanging on the door in a small villa, maybe he was talking about this one.
- I rushed towards it, it's nothing but a small house which is covered with coconut trees. Why is it the only soul in a deserted beach.
- Anyways, maybe I can take shelter here for tonight. The main gate was open, I entered inside and took a breath of relief when I hid from the rain under the roof.
- Lamp is lit means there is someone in the house. I rang the doorbell. There was a gap of a few minutes when I pressed it again.
- "Please open, I am freezing out here."
- My teeth chatter as I pleaded to myself.
- I heard the knock from inside twisting and I wonder if they would let me in or not.
- The door got opened and my eyes locked with those deep blue oceans.
