• Logan ran into Adrian on their way back to the house, but Adrian didn’t do anything besides wiggle his eyebrows at Ashley and give Logan a pound. It was the friendliest Adrian had been to Logan in as long as he’d known him, which gave some validity to Ashley’s claim that maybe Adrian, Logan’s soon-to-be opponent, wasn’t as bad as Logan had assumed.
• Ashley had burrowed in his hoodie as the wind picked up, which should have made her stand out less but somehow didn’t. She was still six feet tall, possessing all kinds of willowy grace, and had platinum hair that slid out of the hood no matter how often she tied it back. Despite the attention that magnetized to him, the three-block walk was peaceful except for Logan’s own busy mind.
