Chapter 24

• Ashley
• Ashley armed herself with two scarves and a floppy hat, circular sunglasses that covered half her face, a vintage patchwork tunic that went to the torn-out knees of her jeans, and a pair of cowboy boots. There were so many patterns and fabrics draping all over her body that she was practically camouflaged. Or that’s what she told herself to get out the door and sprint to catch a cab downtown.
• It was two hours past the time they had set for their lunch date by the time Ashley arrived at Gateway, and Randy was in a meeting. She cursed herself for spending the morning getting drunk and moping.
