Chapter 41
- She wasn’t ready to face Heather yet and weaved through tightly bunched groups of people in the hopes of getting by relatively unnoticed. She quickly passed the kitchen, grabbing a paper cup of water and a slice of bread with a dollop of purple-looking dip on top before making her way toward the back of the house.
- She stumbled into a room that looked out into the backyard, with the back wall almost entirely composed of large windows and glass doors. She spotted an empty deck chair out on the grass and made a beeline for the door, intending to spend as much time as she could outside of the house before anyone noticed, or said anything about it.
- Before she could, though, she heard the familiar sound of Jennifer calling her name.
