Chapter 85 Preventing A Pregnancy(2)
- Catherine put aside her absurd questions and answered. “And isn’t it so?” Without thinking about Dane’s words, she raised her eyebrows and mocked. “Is he in love with me? Why do you think Lucian suddenly changed his attitude towards me?” “Beauty is a reason.” Dane does not deny this. “Probably no man can be indifferent to seeing his child being born. There is no man who does not love his own children." "Part of the reason why Lucian is with you is because of her. This is a fact. But apart from your daughter, he is also interested in you. I cannot say exactly what his feelings are, but as a man, I can tell you that he likes you." "And should I feel honored?” Catherine did not appreciate what he said. “Of course he likes me; I have something that attracts him—what attracts him is a daughter and the belief that he can use me whenever he pleases. But you know what? I am not interested in his feelings or his supposed attraction now. I am leaving him behind. If you are here to advocate for him, give him my message. Tell him not to bother me again, that no matter what he does, I will never give him custody of my daughter!”
- “You are too harsh.” Dane felt that Catherine had overreacted. “Perhaps he did not value you before, but he is changing, don’t you realize?” “I am not interested in his changes. Why should I be soft? Was he soft with me?” She had noticed the changes in Lucian; he did not look at her with coldness and was not indifferent and cruel to her. But all of this came too late; she is determined not to go back to him. If they had been together, it was just sex—the kind where you do not involve feelings. That’s how she would see it; therefore, she would not have illusions with him. In addition, each of these changes occurred after Bella’s arrival; it was unacceptable to use her daughter. That feeling made her feel worse than Lucian’s indifference.
- After saying those words, she did not speak again, and Dane remained silent. Perhaps Lucian himself had not realized his change. The man drove to James’ house, stopped at the villa’s door, and saw Catherine getting out of the car. He said lightly, “If Lucian is willing to change, it means you are important to him. They have a daughter together; if you still love him, give him a chance. But if not, forget my words." Catherine stood still, looking at Dane; her body stiffened, and she turned to enter the house. Her mother saw her Immediately. “Catherine, where did you go yesterday? You don’t answer the phone; I sent you a message and you don’t respond. If you don’t care about my concern, can you at least think about Bella?” “What happened to Bella?” Catherine asked anxiously. She blamed Lucian for not coming home. “Yesterday she did not want milk. We tried to give her a bottle, but she refused. She kept crying until midnight; she is still asleep.”
