• Meredith moved her head slightly. The ashtray grazed her ear and landed on the floor, shattering into pieces.
• Beulah trembled in fear and looked at Meredith worriedly. Seeing that she wasn't hurt, Beulah pleaded with Tom. "Tom, please calm down. Let's talk things out. Don't hit Merry."
• "Move aside. If I don't teach Meredith a lesson today, she won't respect me as her father!" Tom kicked Beulah away, grabbed the belt he had prepared, and whipped it on the carpet before Meredith. "Kneel down!"
