Chapter 14 It Was Tristan Who Hit Her

  • “How dare you, Fabian?” I shouted coldly. At the same time, I yanked up the bedsheet to catch the needles with it.
  • The look on Bruce's face turned icy-cold when he saw that. He then waved at one of his henchmen, whose body surged with energy as he lunged at Fabian like a tiger.
  • I watched in shock as the two were locked in fierce combat.
  • Their fighting abilities had far surpassed that of an ordinary human's.
  • I didn't know there were so many people out there who had mastered the powers that science failed to explain. I wonder if there are others out there who have control over divine power?
  • With that in mind, I instinctively clutched at the Ankh amulet in front of my chest.
  • While Fabian was somewhat powerful, he was no match for Bruce's henchman. It didn't take long for the henchman to break both of Fabian's arms and toss him in front of Bruce.
  • Naturally, Bruce did not take kindly to what Fabian had done. Those three silver needles had been clearly aimed at his daughter, and they would have hit her if I didn't shield her earlier.
  • “What do you think you're doing, Fabian?” Bruce shouted coldly.
  • Fabian panted heavily and clenched his teeth in silence.
  • “I think you should ask your daughter about that, Mr. Neal. He tried to kill her the moment she woke up, so the reason should be obvious,” I uttered lightly.
  • Bruce immediately turned around and looked straight at Brynley. Although still incredibly weak, Brynley muttered through clenched teeth, “I-It was Tristan Xenakis who hit me, Dad...”
  • Bruce exploded with anger when he heard that. “What?”
  • “Who is that?” I asked Calvin.
  • “Tristan is Fabian's son!” Calvin exclaimed in shock.
  • I nodded in response.
  • That explains everything! Now I see why Fabian would offer to personally look after Ms. Neal! He didn't come to save her; he was trying to make sure that she never woke up! That way, no one would ever find out what truly happened. Of course, he didn't dare kill Ms. Neal himself. If she died in his care, then he would surely become a suspect. Instead, he secretly sabotaged Professor Harrison's treatment so that it would activate the needle he inserted in Ms. Neal's brain and kill her as a result.
  • The look on Bruce's face was as cold as ice. “So, that's why I never managed to find out who hit my daughter! Turns out, it was you people from the Xenakis family who did it! You sure are a heartless b*stard, Fabian!”
  • “You got me, Bruce! You can do whatever you want to me, but leave my family out of this! This was all my idea!” Fabian said through clenched teeth.
  • “Hmph! Don't give me that cr*p! You may be the one who did this, but your entire family will have to die along with you!” Bruce then waved his hand as he instructed his henchman, “Kill every single direct member of the Xenakis family! As for the others, I want them banished from Glenport forever!”
  • “Understood!” the henchman replied and left to carry out his orders.
  • I had shock written all over my face as I watched from the side.
  • Bruce sure is amazing! He can change an entire family's fate simply by giving a single order!
  • I was snapped out of my train of thought when Bruce knelt in front of me and said, “Thank you very much for saving my daughter, Mr. Larson! I will never forget what you have done for me! Just let me know if you ever need anything. There's nothing I can't manage here in Glenport!”
  • Calvin and Spencer's jaws dropped when they saw that.
  • I was just as surprised to see a powerful individual like Bruce kneeling before me.
  • “Don't mention it, Mr. Neal! It's in a doctor's nature to treat all patients equally. However, I do hope you can help me out with something,” I replied with a wave.
  • “What is it, Mr. Larson? Just give me the word, and I will get it done right away!” Bruce asked.
  • “It's nothing much, really. I prefer to keep a low profile, so I want you to keep what happened today a secret, that's all.”
  • I would definitely draw a lot of attention to myself if word got out about me treating Bruce's daughter.
  • Before I solved the mystery of my family's death, I didn't want to expose myself too much.
  • Bruce froze in confusion as he didn't quite understand the reason behind my request, but he nodded in acknowledgment anyway. “Got it. No one say a word about what happened today! Is that understood?”
  • The men around him quickly nodded in response. No one dared defy Bruce's orders.
  • I then wrote down another prescription and told Bruce, “Ms. Neal may have regained consciousness, but her body is still incredibly weak. Due to the damage caused by her underlying ailment, it will be much harder for her to make a full recovery. This prescription will help her with it. I estimate she will make a full recovery in two weeks. You can then bring her to me, and I will treat her underlying ailment.”
  • “Thank you very much, Mr. Larson!” Feeling overjoyed, Bruce reached out to take the prescription from me.
  • However, I handed the prescription over to Calvin instead of Bruce.
  • “It takes a lot of skill to synthesize medicine, Mr. Neal. The slightest mistake could render it completely ineffective, so it is best to let Professor Harrison handle this part. He's a lot more experienced in this kind of stuff, after all.”
  • Calvin was dumbfounded when he heard that.
